Boring is boring, and while that might only be a couple of hours for me, I still might not bother. For others it might be a week or weeks to get through a few hundred dull pages?

How often is it that the second book in a series is better? Not always but in this case - either with the Black Company series or Malazan - it's true. Shadows Linger is one of the best in the Black Company series and Deadhouse Gates is much better than GotM. I would urge anyone trying either series to read these books before giving up on either series.

I read The first Black Company novel and liked it and I read the fist book in the P I Garret series Las liked it

The Dragon Never Sleeps is quite good

I could not get into Dread Empire.
