Season 7 is a "GO"/Shanks' return

Enthusiasm is always a good place to start

If the story is kicked 10-25 years into the future what elements of the present show are kept? All the team personnel would change (except maybe T'ealc) -- retirements, career changes, etc. Should the gate project remain in the hands of the military or become the province of scientists? I'd like to see a shift away from the paranoia of the "intelligence community" so not having NID around would be a refreshing change.

The war with the Goa'uld would probably have been resolved by this future date (conflicts that last forever get stale storywise).
What takes its place? I suppose some kind of alliance or federation with planets loyal to the Asgard might form the basis for new politics, but do you see a variety of villains or just a new bad-ass race?

It takes a lot to structure a universe, so coming up with some parameters for a future spin-off is going to take a lot of thought and imagination.

i read in a magazine when it said ........ something, something, season six, the last season of stargate sg-1
if there is a seventh, it cant be sg-1
the co's gone, the conscience is gone. teal'c says hes gonna return to chulac and sam'll get a research lab job.

whatever it is, it wont be sg-1.

they do say they're pretty hopeful about the movie tho.....

.....thats something to look forward to!!

i read that if sg1's season 6 ratings was through the roof a season 7 would be a strong posibility...... i also read that Brad Wright (i think) will hopefully be doing some MAJOR persuading for a season 7....

While a 7th season sounds appealing in many ways, it still depends on who's left to be in a 7th season. If MS does not return and/or if RDA leaves, that's a tremendous gap to fill even for the very capable cast and crew who remain.

It might be S7, but will it really be SG1? SG1-Lite?

An excellent point, Skoon.

Losing valuable cast members, as well as production staff, writers, etc. is bound to happen and to affect the quality of the show as we know and love it.

Wouldn't it be wiser to finish up S6 (hopefully with high ratings), make a feature film, THEN see if the impetus is there either for S7 or for a spin-off program?

i would like to see a season 7, however if they do make a feature film perhaps they should include the death/retirement of the members of the cast who will not take part in season 7 and then continue on from the feature film with the series. I think it would be cool to have the film go on the track of earth becoming the fith race and joining the asgard and ferlings and nox and the anceints to just demoralise the goa'uld, then perhaps a new enemy (the replicators evolved to become a formidable force) in season 7, they have got the building blocks to create one of the best sci fi series around they should continue stargate sg-1 rules!!! dont kill it!!!!!!

Season 7?

I wouldn't hold my breath, waiting for a financially troubled MGM to spring for an SG-1 motion picture. The ratings for Season 6 on Sci-Fi would have to occasionally go above "2" for them to even begin thinking about it.

Ain't gonna happen.

We have the same conversation going on in "Season 7" and "Petition for Season 7" -- so I'm never quite sure what I've said when and to whom.

There are also ties over to the "Jonas" discussion since his character is considered determinative for some as to the viability of a 7th season.

Perhaps another aggregation is in order.
