One more thing to add about the
Traveller's checks.

You can also get then cash
at the best Western's
front desk. That's where have I gotten
my cash at the last 2 years that I have
gone there. Their really nice about it too.
And I would think that all the hotels do it too.

:)

Well, yes I was... But... Ummm... how do I say this.... I missed it !

Seriously... I got my flight info mixed up and missed my flight. So instead of sitting in Chicago at the moment, i'm still home in Oz.

Worst thing is that I have to wait till tomorrow morning to find out if I can change my ticket.

As long as I make it to Chicago by Tuesday or Wednesday I will be back on schedule.

Fingers crossed

My fingers are cross
for ya Allan!!!!
and I will say a prayer
for ya too!!!

Have A Safe Flight
and C-ya next week!!:)

flight...

Ah... Australia to Chicago to Vancouver, BC? Kinda 'round Rosy's Red Barn a bit, but it's getting you there that counts.

Fingers crossed and good thoughts your way.

Thanks all, i feel fairly calm about it at the moment.

Yes it does seem like a long way to get to vancouver, but I can kill two birds with one stone, and make it a part business trip at the same time. That's why i'm heading to Chicago first.

Plus it gives me the chance to see the AusGate server face to face, and give it a hug:rolly2: :rolly2: :rolly2:

Gee, that's nice..... hug a server and then get a business write-off. Why didn't I think of it before???

10 days to Gatecon
5 days to my bus
pulling in Vancouver!!!

Can't wait!!
My Butterflies
are getting so
big the could fly
Allan to Chicago!!

Luckilly I won't need to use your butterflies... but thanks anyway :rolly2:

I got my tickets sorted out, and I fly out first thing tomorrow morning. (at a fairly minimal rebooking fee)

WOOOOOO HOOOOOO

If he makes the picture of it his avatar, than we'll know he needs a *real* vacation. :D

Note for timdgreat,

Almost all places in the Greater Vancouver area (which includes Richmond) will accept American currency. The stores will have the exchange rate posted outside the store and/or near the till/cash register. It is fast and easy to use American currency. As we (I'm from Vancouver) are a border town and tourist town, we are very comfortable with American currency. You might get a slightly better rate at a bank or currency exchange business, but .... then you lose a bit in handling fees and "buy back rates" when you change your Canadian back to American on the way home. (Of course the exchange rate in a store or restaurant might not be as good as in a bank. )

Or if you have American Express Traveller's Cheques and exchange them at an American Express Travel Office, then you will not have to pay a fee for the exchange. Unfortunately, I don't know where the American Express office is in Richmond. And most stores will take Traveller's Cheques in either American or Canadian currency; they are as good as cash. I used to take them all of the time when I was working in my parent's store. Just make sure you have adequate ID for stores to check. (It is different in Europe. You have to exchange traveller's cheques into the local currency; stores in Europe do not take traveller's cheques at all.)

My advice.... use American Currency or Traveller's Cheques (American or Canadian currency). Most stores & restaurants will take them; most taxis will take them, too. Credit cards are fine, too!! And I found that merchandise at Gatecon in the Dealer's room had both American and Canadian prices listed and you could pay in either currency.

Whew! End message.

wow well thanks xst, thats really gonna help, i think i know have one thing sorted then:), now on to pakcing:p:rolly2:

On the topic of Traveller's Cheques -- FYI -- there is an Amex Exchange office just around the corner from the Best Western - we made several trips there last year ;) It's quite convenient -- and generally - where there's a hotel, there's an Amex Exchange -- keeps them in business -- ahhhh capitalism. :D
