gatecon 2004

There are usually couple of under 13's that go, maybe 4 or 5 max.

The rest is a bit hard to guage because trying to figure out a person's age can sometimes be hard.

Teenagers, 20's, 30's and 40's all seem to have a fairly equal sharing of the numbers, but we also get a lot of 50's and over.

And I think Rowan was way out with her male / female ratio... I think it's more like 20-1 :rolly2:

Thanks

 Wow (regarding female to male ratio)...Thanks Allan.

Ratio ....

You're right, Allan. It's just folks like you, Dave, Ryk, Travis, Gord, et all seem to make it *look* like a larger male percentage... :D

Not sure, but if they run about the same as this year - ~ $200 US -- (This year they were $210 US - that could change) --

Yes, there is a predominance of female attendees at Gatecon. And I did meet a few teens. One teen was there with her parents! I had a great chat with the Dad who sat next to me. And they are coming next year!! Together!!

My impression is that this was the best run Gatecon yet. It was very orderly and pleasent.... even when I was in the line-ups for autographs & photos. People were "nice" and not rushing around. The con volunteers were better prepared. I think it helped tremendously that the photograph & autograph sessions were not concurrent with the panels.

I have a few negative comments but they will be sent to Allan or Richard in a private email. Nothing too bad, but something that I was worried about....

I would give Gatecon 2003 a 9/10 score. Now if you can only get Chris Judge to come....

I'm dying to go to Gatecon 2004!!!

Is that approx. $200 (US) for one ticket/one day or the whole three/four day thing?

ticket costs

The $200+ price range [around $225 US, I believe, but it's been a year and some] is for the entire four days. The Day passes were running $75 US/Day this last year.

there have been a couple of kids in the past 3 years, i'd say 3-4 at the most under the age of 10. (on sunday there was one adorable little girl, around 4 i think, that was running around the back of the room)

there were some folks that brought their parents, parents that brought thier teenaged kids, husbands that brought wives and vice versa

Who brings who ...

And Tara brings Boomer. Or it may be the other way around...

Tara is Gatecon's first 'Make-A-Wish' child and Boomer is her dog. Boomer played the dog Jack O'Neil gives Cassandra in "Singularity". Tara's "wish" was for Boomer to have a change to be in a movie and/or TV.

Her wish came true, Boomer's been on Stargate, the X-Files [I believe] and the two of them have come to come to Gatecon every year.

Aww...That's wonderful. It's great to hear stories like that. I'm glad Tara's wish for Boomer came true. Any news on how Tara is right now? Will she be making it to Gatecon 04?

Tara had brain tumor (hence being a Wish Child). That side of it is pretty much OK, but there are a few lingering effects like impaired hearing.

Tara (and Boomer) are so special to us , and I certainly hope she can make it next year.
