Tickets for Gatecon2004 now available online.

Badges are a great idea. Every group now almost has some sort of identification.

And after all we are the mighty Ascifi. Famous amongst the stars (okay so Amanda mentioned us once but hey). :star: :star:

Glad everyone likes the idea. Badges are a great idea and lots of boards are doing them now. But the best way to meet people from the boards you go on is to have a gathering and the cocktail party seems best. Then of course each board can have their own gathering in one of the lounges or in someone's room if they want too. I wonder how many boards would participate in the cocktail party idea.

Hey Allan, if you think it's something you want to do, do you think sending out an update email to everyone is a good idea? That way whoever runs each board can basically sign up and have a table at the cocktail party for their group. It doesn't have to be an official thing, I'm sure some groups may not come or have many representatives, but that way it's a bit more organized and will make it easier for everyone to get their group together. It'll be up to each group to have a sign of some sort and badges are up to them as well.

I think it's a great way for friends to meet up and for new people to meet other people that are into who or what they're into. I know the cocktail party has always been different every year and it's always been fun but this would make it a bigger party I think and will bring more fans together and make them feel more a part of something.

Ok, I put the idea out there, now it's up to everyone else to do the work. I love being the idea girl. :D

Well, you know I'm always willing to help out, if there's anything I can do just ask.

Yes, it's the best way to put faces to names. That's why JR fans are making badges.
And yes timdgreat, it implies 'worries' but it's worth it (I guess) :p

Putting faces with names

Boy, if we had a table at the cocktail party for every major list, we'd have tables all the way out into the hall and down toward the lobby. :D

There's pretty much at least one big list for all the major characters [O'Neill, Jackson, Carter, Teal'c and Quinn] and major supporting characters [Hammond, Fraiser] plus their actors, not counting supporting characters and their actors [Colin, JR, TOny, Carmen, etc] plus various plain Stargate groups, both on Yahoo and other sites [SG-1 Fans, SG-1 Hurt/Comfort, DANIELites, The Tea Room, The Alpha Gate, etc...

The idea boggles the mind.

We might have to, if we plan something like this, group some of the lists together? Daniel lists; Jack lists; General SG-1 lists; etc etc --- otherwise, yeah, Rowan's right - we'd have more tables than ppl at the cocktail party --

There'd need to be some 'guidelines' too - must contact key contact person to have a table; must make sign; something like that -- just little things so they can keep it organized and not more madhouse than it usually is ;)

But it is a good idea ---

Ideas...

I think there are ways it could be worked out, it just facinates me the depth and variety of ... 'collections'? 'subspecies'? we have in this fandom. Actor lists, character lists, fic lists, team lists ...

Yep, I understand you want to be in front of everyone, first line, dancing on a platform. That's what you said.
I love my English-Spanish dictionay... :rolly2: :D

I do think it'll take some organizing, but really I don't know that there would be that many groups there. I figure only the biggest ones and most popular would do it as some of the smaller ones might not have as many people in them and not as many people going to the con. I'd be silly to have a table if only 1 person from that group was gonna be there. And so many people are on a bunch of boards that they can go to the bigger boards where alot of people are and still meet up with the same people that are on the smaller boards. Does that make sense?

Anyway, I think it could be worked out and not made into a big message board and mailing list ordeal. I know I have at least 13 boards and lists that I'm a member of and go to fairly regularly. And that's just for Stargate SG1. But I'd probably only go to the tables of the Ascifi board, wolfboards, and the gategoers list. But I know alot of the same people go to all those boards too so, I guess it would be up to the people to pick a board and the friends they want to meet at that table. Then everyone can make rounds I guess or post which table they'll be at if anyone wants to meet them.

It can be a bit complicated but once everyone's in on what to do then it'll be easy. Most people chat regularly so can get it figured out quickly online and then I guess lists can be posted on the message board in the lobby at the con the day of the event so if anyone isn't sure where to meet they can look up a name and then see where to meet them.

People will still mingle of course, and then there's the getting of food and drink, but at least it's a start. The tables can be a place to hang out at if you don't know anyone and would like to get info on the boards and meet new friends that like the same things you do.

A short message to a good selection of boards should get the word out and start everyone making their plans. That is if everyone wants to do it. I'm sure some boards might wanna have a private party at some other time. I think it would be a good place to meet up and hand out gifts for friends, badges, and any other things a group might want to do. Even celebrating birthdays or anniversaries and things like that.

I've just done that at other cons that I went to for years and it worked out well there. Thought it'd be fun to try here since it seems so many of the same people come every year and lots of friendships have been made.

Ok, gotta get lunch and get to work. Later, Kim/SS

First time I've posted on this site, and also first time to Gatecon this year, so I'm curious about the following.

I've noticed on the home page that Super pass tickets have now been sold out, roughly how many tickets does that mean has been sold? Just trying to get an idea for how big it is likely to get.

Ta muchly

Elaine

That equates to 500 Superpass tickets.

We have released a TriPass Ticket, but this ticket does not include entry into the autograph or photograph sessions, and does not include entry into the Cocktail Party, but DOES still include all of the other nightly events.

Also from here on, day passes sold from today will not include Autograph or Photographs session entry, or cocktail party either.

We have physical limits and fire code limits for the Cocktail party. And there are only so may people we can fit in the Auto and Photo sessions.

As Elaine pointed out (Welcome by the way...)and Allan has so generously answered, SOLD OUT! W00t! WOOHOO! Wow... can't wait, can't wait... OMG!

I'd noticed that Tripass thing in red on the site when I checked it around noon and was wondering about that. Thanks for the update... 500?! Holy Hannah...:rolly2:

Keep thinking about the COn!

I can't believe how many fans there is going to be at the CON. It's going to be my first and I can't wait to meet people that love the show as much as I do. I'm number 319, I can't keep worrying if I'll be able to get Amanda's picture and autograph. At first I though my ticket was good, but I now feel like I'm far behind....:(

honeymiel ull be fine, last year i was 450 something and i still got to see all the stars:d:rolly2:

As I stated elsewhere...

Superpasses, tripasses, and sat daypasses are sold out. Anyone with information on passes being sold, please feel free to "get this gater to gatecon"
