Lost: Season 2

I'm glad it wasn't just me that had the same opinion. Maybe we'll see a slimmer Hurley as the series goes on. (thats when hubby gets his weekly fix and I'm just half watching it)

I also had a gripe about that, but in the second episode of the second series 40+ days was mentioned. He has still been eating, and apart from Golf doesn't do much exercise, so maybe it is not such a big deal. I would expect him to lose more from now on.
Yeah, but they're not eating much. Forty days of say 1/2-2/3 of normal calories (for a normal sized person) for someone who is Hurley's size, even without exercise, should have an impact. However, since he has started so large, it will take a while to look like he's losing weight. So he may have "lost a stone" already but it can be difficult to tell at first.

P'T - 3 stone down in 4 months

Hurley's weight

Well, it has been a pretty high protein diet for them - plenty of fish - though that is the basis of the Atkin's Diet.

I'm not sure about this, but I think I remember something said about Candy bars and meals going missing from the aeroplane. Sawyer was hoarding items, so why not Hurley too. He spent a lot of time salvaging stuff on the beach.

Also, I just saw that room inside the "hatch" in the last episode where Kate was hiding - I'm sure Hurley would love to get inside there.

Apparently, this is the single most asked question of the Lost creators, and Damon Lindelof has promised an answer in upcoming episodes.

Season 2, Ep 3 spoilers

Well, they just gave Hurley the keys to the door! Dumb and Dumber!

Also, something else that just doesn't make sense...
The French women landed on the island 16 years before our characters, and she said 'the others' took her baby after a week of it being born? Now we find out 'the others' are survivors of the tail end of flight 815?
Obviously, there is some kind of time-travel element going on here.

Did anyone used to watch 'The Fantastic Journey' (1977) TV show with Roddy McDowell? Do you think there is an influence on 'Lost'?

Perhaps...
...the survivors from the tail AREN'T "the others". None seemed to look like the ones on the boat who raided the raft, and Walt doesn't seem to be anywhere... I reckon these are just another group on the island and the Others are more related to the bunker and/or its original use

I agree with P'teppic's "perhaps" spolier - its 2 different things

It is getting very interesting, and man oh man, why give the fat guy the key to that particular door - crazy!!!

S2 Ep4. -- Yeah, It's clear that the others are not "The Others" now.

Slightly off topic - (Mission Impossible 3)

This was written and directed by JJ Abrams. Is anyone bothered that the "Rabbit's Foot" was never explained?

I don't want to spoil that film, but the "rabbit's foot" is irrelevant to the plot. The "Rabbit's Foot" is JJ Abrams "McGuffin" or "Red Herring".

A "Red Herring" is a fallacy in which an irrelevant topic is presented in order to divert attention from the original issue. Alfred Hitchcock is credited with the invention of the "McGuffin". The "McGuffin" is a plot device or plot element that catches the viewer’s attention or drives the plot. It is generally something that every character is concerned with. "The McGuffin" is essentially something that the entire story is built around and yet has no real relevance.

The "Rabbit's Foot" is supposedly a a secret weapon that could presumably command a huge sum from a foreign power
I got to thinking that it is exactly the same as the way he writes 'Lost'.

We'll discover in the end that all these things are just "Red Herrings", "McGuffins" and "Rabbit's Feet".

Oooh I like it Dave! Although as you say with the 'foot' I'l be a bit disapointed if a lot of the questions remain unanswered or are completely irrelevant. Particularly if they go unanswered!

Did anyone find the last episode a bit plodding? Nothing much seemed to happen really.

I think it highly likely that many questions will remain unanswered, or have answers which are effectively another question...

Re: Lost

Is everyone up to the episode when Michael returns?

Spoiler:
And then kills two people, lets Henry go, and shoots himself.

Then in the following episode the parts with Mr Eko and Locke. I'm really getting confused now.

Spoiler:
Michael can only be doing it to get Walt back, so everything he has said about the Others is false.

And are we ever going to find out Libby's back-story now (she was in the same asylum as Hurley)?

And why is Locke "one of the good ones" (Henry said so)?

Are they going to add new characters in Season 3?

Re: Lost

I've been watching it on the internet so I've seen all of series 2 and series 3 is due to start in October.

Dave, I think there are going to be new characters in series 3, I've found out a few spoilers from the Lost forum that I'm part of, but I won't spoil anything!!

Yep, should be revealed in season three. The rumor is:
Her husband was killed and somehow she blames Hurley for it. Thats what the buzz is at least.

Yep!

Re: Lost

What to expect from Season 3:

*spoilers*

The captivity will be dealt with early

Sawyer will be put in a cage

Kate will need to make an important "choice"

Jack has a past connection with one of the Others (something about saving a little girl's life)

Jack will become interested in another woman who has alterior motives

With Jack's absence, new leadership will take over the remaining survivors with a very different goal in mind

Locke and Sayind will band the rest together to free Jack, Kate and Sawyer

Charlie will continue to get closer to Claire

Ethan will make an appearance (in a flashback most likely)

Henry will become a regular cast members

Who are the Others will be explained early on

Episode 1: Kate-centric
Episode 2: Claire-centric
Episode 3: Sun & Jin-centric
Episode 4: Desmond-centric
Episode 5: Eko-centric

Is Jin the father to Sun's baby?

Re: Lost

I skipped over that, too much information. Thanks anyway though!

There is a new [ SPOILER] [ /SPOILER] tag if you would like to edit it for others who don't wish to see.

Re: Lost

I'm really just posting to bump this thread to the top. The Season 3 posts have all been split away into a new thread, so this thread is left for UK viewers and others who have only seen up to the end of Season 2. Speculation is fine, but please no spoilers for Season 3 in this thread.

Anyway, someone want to discuss the last episode - wasn't there a lot of new weird stuff in that during the boat journey - the statue with the three toes???

Looks like we will only have to wait until November to see Series 3, now that Sky have picked up the rights to 3 and 4. Of course to those that are actuallt subscribed to sky that is :)
