What Anime and Animation are you currently watching?

I find Japanese studios usually aren't very good at doing European historical elements, and for it to work for me, the Rohirrim would have to be convincingly as Tolkien conceived them, i.e. late first millennium Anglo-Saxon (plus horses). The Jackson films got this right, but nothing I saw about this looked likely to come within a hundred miles.
What makes them from that period?

One Piece Fan Letter. A girl who looks up to Nami goes on an adventure to send a fan letter to the pirate.

This is a Netflix original special episode that takes place just after the training arc (where the Mugiwara get separated for two years), and it actually follows various non-pirate characters. They all look up to a member of Luffy’s crew, for many reasons. For example, a Navy Captain, brooding and fearsome on the outside, actually thinks Chopper is the cutest thing.

It’s an amazing episode. It’s awesome what they’ve managed to do in only 20 minutes. It’s flawlessly directed and scripted. It is funny, emotional and crazy. Pure One Piece.

Highly Recommended.

FULL METAL PANIC. I was searching for something else on CR, & found this. Saw it years ago via NF DVDs. Just started it again. Comedy/drama.

Just to be clear on the timeline -- This episode fits neatly in between episodes 897 and 898?

I'm a little behind on the 1,122 episode arc.
That's 374 hours of non-stop excitement! oh boy!!!

Confusing!

Occasionally I wonder about restarting One Piece. At my voracious rate of consumption, it took about two to three years to reach #87x, which at the time was current. I guess I could rip through about 4-5 episodes a night at most, but usually 2-3.

I binged S7 of The Dragon Prince on Netflix. Not perfect, but a real return to form after the mess of S4-6 (last three episodes of S6 excepted), with much less emphasis on "cute" critters and some tough character decisions convincingly portrayed. (Note I watched the French dub, which IMO has far superior voice acting to the original English.)

Also started Gurren Lagann, also on Netflix, a 2007 piece of cheesy anime mecha nonsense which is so far very enjoyable.

Who wants a recap at only #6?
Yeah, I thought that was pretty weird, especially when there's another one due about halfway.

I'll probably stick it out to the end of the series, though it's not really my cuppa. The action sequences are largely incomprehensible and the humour is about 50/50 hit/miss, but it does have a kind of charm.

Yami Shibai 14. Fourteenth season of Yami Shibai.

As CJ from GTA:SA would say: “Oh, s**t! Here we go again…” :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Seriously now. The season premiere was a great episode, going straight to the TOP 10 list (and that’s saying a lot bc, y’know, fourteen seasons!), so I’m hopeful.

Gangsta. In a town dominated by four mafia families, a duo works as “Handymen”, doing any kind of dangerous job.

Saw this when I was looking for “underrated anime to watch”. And it’s precisely that. The animation is great (it has one the best OP/ED I’ve ever seen), the battle scenes are gritty, and the screenplay really delves into the characters, even the side characters.

Too bad it doesn’t have an ending. Its production was halted because the studio, Manglobe, went bankrupt. It doesn’t even end in a cliffhanger.

Even so, the twelve episodes are worthwhile.

I 1st watched GL on DVDs; its 6th episode was about an open air hot spring :D, but, streaming omitted that episode, & replaced it with a recap episode. Who wants a recap at only #6?

I found this website that has a lot of anime series including episode 6.
Must have been cut for the several "almost Penis" shots, with a little furry creature hanging off of one of the characters junk as he walks by - leg/thigh shot only - otherwise naked. -- 14:31 for those who want to check it out. Naked butt shot to follow. A lot of naked male characters. The red head boy sticks his finger in -- anyway you can watch it for yourself.
as the girls talk about their breasts.
Oh, and a completely naked little boy later in the show.

OK. now I've seen an episode of that. thanks???
