Will somebody suggest a good fantasy series?

Some of my favorite young adult fantasy series:

Patricia Wrede: Enchanted Forest Chronicles
- Dealing With Dragons
- Searching For Dragons
- Calling On Dragons
- Talking To Dragons

Patricia Wrede/Caroline Stervermer: Cecilia and Kate
- Sorcery and Ceclia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot
- The Grand Tour or the Purloined Coronation Regalia
- The Mislaid Magician or Ten Years After

Sharon Shinn: Safekeepers Series
- The Safe-Keeper's Secret
- The Truth-Teller's Tale
- The Dream-Maker's Magic

Anne McCaffrey: Harper Hall Trilogy (can go either way--fantasy or sci-fi)
- Dragonsong
- Dragonsinger
- Dragondrums

Isobelle Carmody: Obernewtyn Chronicles (another either way fantasy/sci-fi)
- Obernewtyn
- Farseeker
- Ashling
- The Keeping Place

I liked Diana Wynne Jones Dalemark Quartet. Let me see if I can remember the names

Cart and Cwidder
Drowned Ammet
The Spellcoats
Crown of Dalemark (I think that's what it was called. Correct me if I'm wrong.)

If you like Vampires then theres the Vampire Prince set of 12 by Darren Shan
And also the Demonata series of 6 Again by Darren Shann.

Mary Hoffman's Stravaganza has been one of my favourites since I picked up the first book. If you like historical fiction mixed in with your fantasy it's an excellent option.

Have posted about these before but they are very good:

The Elements of Lore
The Spook's Apprentice
Shadowmancer by GP Taylor.

Thanks, Alex. I thouight I might have to do the naff thing of recommending my own books!

The Stravagnza series is so far:

City of Masks
City of Stars
City of Flowers

And City of Secrets is out this July with City of Ships to follow in 2010.

There, I've been naff after all.

Mary

I think I will try those Mary.
Alex bear in mind to take a look at my recommendations:
The Elements of Lore
and Joseph Dealney books

Hmmm, some of these recommendations seem a little out there for Young Adults.

Example (without picking on anyone!): Feist's Riftwar stuff isn't something I'd hand to my 12-year-old. I like it, but she's not ready for it....

I can recommend a classic that's regularly heralded as such for young readers: Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea series. Definitely the first 3; I haven't been back to it to read the stuff that came out after those.

FightGame and FireFire fight by Kate Wild? There's a gypsy hero and all sorts of shenanigans. Yes, I'm Kate Wild lol. Really enjoyed reading what everyone else has put on their list. Can I just add Skellig by David Almond, but it isn't a series, its just so well written and uplifting.

Has "The Dark is Rising" been suggested?

Apart from that there are a lot of good ideas on here. many I'll have to go and take a look at myself
