Not so important connections

Like all great Machievellian conspirators, eventually Littlefinger will have bitten off more than he can chew.

Personnally, I believe he already has with Sansa. She will bring his downfall and it will be calculated and intentional.

I hope so... I always thought he was a pervert after going for Sansa... and I think that's the most likely outcome.

Didnt we beat this one up somewhere before Boaz? (Why dont you go search for it? I crack me up)....Petyr is a closet Littlefinger supporter.

I will say I this though, I think he is truely one of the Great Players of the Game. I really dont think theres anyone better.....

Going into the latest book I thought the good to great manipulators and policy makers were (in no particular order) Tywin, Doran, Olenna, Petyr, Varys, and Aemon (just a feeling on that one).....with Petyr clearly being the one most underappreciated. Even Tyrion was a pawn for these people and he's the brightest guy out there.

No one has seen Petyr coming so far. I think thats why he's been successful. Once he is no longer a non-factor I think its gonna go a little tougher for him. Thats Petyrs greatest strength...if he looses it I dont know where he'll end up.

Oh, I totally know what you mean... he's a mastermind, yet no one really pays any attention to him because his birth is so lowly. I think that was actually touched on in one of the books, come to think of it. He is possibly one of the best players in the game right now, but I've also seen a growing trend of the people who are players eventually getting played themselves. (Arianne, Tyrion, Cersei (she wasn't one really, only thought she was), you get the picture. I do like the idea of his downfall coming from his protege, and despite his genius, I still think he's a perv.

As has been said, we've beaten them all up many times. I'll go look for it while you go get the coolant, I'm over heating.

Good observation. Once he's lost the element of surprise, he'd better be in position of strength or someone's gonna have his head. Let's remember that Tywin and Tyrion both thought about removing Littlefinger, either from politics or from life. But he was too valuable and they deemed themselves too strong.

Life is not a song sweetling... someday you may learn that to your dismay. Look, I strongly agree with you, TK, but after being shocked by Eddard's death, then Robb's death, and Jaime's maiming... well, the words of Littlefinger may prove to be the definitive anthem of this series.

Aegon, on second thought I'm not gonna look for it, but keep that coolant handy.

As far as Littlefinger's protege doing the honor or ridding the realm of that beast, just remember that he is truly just a regent for Robert. He sees Robert as weak (just like others see him) and likely to die soon. Then look and see who has Robert in their pocket. Might this work into something? Probably not, but it doesn't stop me from loving the idea of Littlefinger getting everything he wants only to lose it because he didn't take care of the nasty little kid.

Last time when som1 in the book was telling prophecies about people dying soon was Tyrion about Lansell Lannister. We all know that Lansell is alive and jumping:). Let's get this thread back to the subject shall we;)? I have found something in AFFC( Brienne's last chapter). She describes Lady Stark and in one moment tells about bronze crown she is playing with. Has any1 thought how she got that crown? There are only 2.One was Jeyne wearing and her mother took it and gave it to Rimman Frey (Jaime's chapter,Talking about Queen of whores, near hanging place) and one was Robb's crown (probably still at Twins). Any thoughts:confused:.

I seem to recall that someone said Frey took Robbs body, replaced his head with that of Grey Winds and nailed his crown on top...If so that would explain it.

Of course, Ive been wrong before.

Of course, Ive been wrong before.
Say it ain't so, Joe.

The Freys nailed Robb's body and Grey Wind's head up with the crown. The Brotherhood has men all over the Riverlands. It'd be easy for one of them to score points with Stoneheart by recovering any of the three objects.

Hee....I enjoy being mocked....

In that Petyr Pimple is a hostage chapter at the end of one of the books Lem or Tom comment that they were unable to raise Robb from the dead because the head was replaced and all that I mentioned. This to me implies that they had possession of the body at least at that point. Which means they had the crown as well....I dont think its too much of a stretch....

Every Stark that goes south dies.

I'm not saying they automatically die, but that danger lurks for them there and not in the North (except when the Lannisters and Greyjoys come around). Some made repeated trips to the South, but ultimately died there.

Lord Rickard. Brandon. Lyanna. Eddard. Robb. Catelyn. (A Stark by marriage.)

Benjen, Arya, and Sansa are the only ones who've not died in the South. Benjen seems unlikely to ever go south again and Arya has crossed the sea, but Sansa is still there. She and Arya have escaped death a few times... it's close.

Bran and Rickon have not gone south. I don't expect them to die soon.

Then there's Jon Snow. He's not gone south. His mother went south and died. His father went north and died. (Yes, I know the Ruby Ford is not in the North, but on a smaller scale it works... geographically and metaphorically speaking.)

If Jon and/or Bran are candidates for the heads of the Dragon, then don't be surprised if they die in the South. Valar morghulis.

When speaking of dying....

We have all noticed that prologue characters die. Well in the last chapter in every book dead come to life (or presumingly dead by the way). In AGOT that were dragons (dead for 150 years or so), in ACOK it were Bran and Rickon and Maester Luvinn, in ASOS it was Catelyn and in AFFC it was pigboy Pate.
How is that for small connection?

During my recent reread I was thinking about this thread and I had a whole bunch of stuff I wanted to mention. Of course, I forgot most of it. Anyway...

Mentions of Marwyn are peppered throught the books, probably 5 or 6 times. Y-Storm pointed out Mirri Muz Dur mentioning him in this thread. Qyburn mentions him, his book is brought up and I forget the other times he's mentioned. Given that he's headed Mereen, maybe he's to play a significant role.

Arya has been destined to go to Braavos-she's missed several opportunities to be recognized (both a good and bad thing) and something always stops her from reaching any planned destination. Headed to wall-Yoren's killed. None of the northmen at Harrenhal recognize her and she doesn't tell Roose Bolton who she is- this probably saves her life. Escapes Harenhall right before Jaime gets there (he probably would have recognized her or Brienne may have made the connection). Ends up at inn where Jaime and Brienne had recently been. Talks to the old lady prophet on the same bridge where Robb and Catelyn stop to have a chat, most likely less than a day of two after Arya's departure. Had they run into each other Arya would be having a bad time time at the Twins with them. Also, if the outlaws would not have seen the maegi, they would would have not known of the Wedding and would have walked Arya into Gregor's seige at Riverrun. Sandor and Arya show up at the twins just late enough to avoid walking into the massacre. They head to the Vale, which is the new home of her sister. The Hound can't continue so off she goes to Saltpans, where she gets cheated for her horse, can't pay the ship for passage and desperately produces J'aqen's coin.

Useless trivia:Arya unknowingly calls her would-be husband stupid. Elmar Frey, Bolton's squire who is afraid of leeches, ducks out of leech duty mumbling about something he forgot and Arya says "I forgot, you're stupid." Later he is angry because he lost his chance to marry a princess. She could care less about some spoiled princess, which is actually her-she was part of Catelyn's deal with the Freys.

The girl who offers to ring Gendry's bell is his half-sister.

"Maggy the Frog" seems to be Lady Sybell's mother.

Heh, I liked when Arya said : "I hope your princess dies!" I hope not :)

Anyway, more nice useless information/speculation:
At Harrenhal tourney (Meera's story) King Aerys sent Rhaegar to find and reveal the mystery knight. I think he succeeded :D So Aerys is the one who started the whole Robert's rebelion thing.
So Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?

Well blow me down. I'd never noticed that.
