Favourite species in fantasy !!!

Humans - of course, I might be biased, but my favourite characters in fantasy novels always seem to be the human ones.

I also like Pratchett's werewolves and vampires; Tolkien's elves; Hans Christian Andersen's mermaids; centaurs; Borrowers, and the Nelwyns from 'Willow'!

The Tleilaxu in Herbert's Dune series are interesting, although Tolkien's Eldar are my favourite, being essentially better versions of us.

i'd say a chimera too since they don't have a clear cut description other than consisting of many different parts of animals and breathing fire or some other classical element

I am very much a dragon, but not those soft nice dragons, no a fire breathing, angry with plenty of attitude dragon.
For example two movies
Dragonheart: nice dragon, somewhat angry at times, but overall a nice dragon
Reign of Fire: mean, bad attitude, out to take on the world dragons, far more exciting......
I'm kind of partial to vampires also.

as much as i have always loved elves, dragons, etc., the most compelling fantasy species i can think of are the mystif, from clive barker's imajica.
