What comic books/graphic novels are you reading at the moment?

It looks as though there was a follow up Crooksy, called The Ten Seconders: Make Believe, but not released in graphic novel form. Yet.

As stated above I've slowed back down with the comic reading, but managed an issue of Doctor Who this morning. That is the way it will be for a while I guess, the odd issue of DW here and there.

Just started Absolute Sandman. Had them all waiting patiently on the shelf for yonks. Couldn't bring myself round to start it due to the size and weight of the thing. Feels like a blooming tombstone!
Pretty good so far.

What did you think of it?

Sorry that this is a little late. I thought it was cracking good stuff. Really well thought out.

Dumb Sprocket forgot to post current reading.

Got drunken on Boxing Day and read Condemned: Mister X by Dean Motter. Excellent.
About to open up Blankets by Craig Thompson. Got it for Christmas and it's far larger than I was expecting.

I went to local comic shop just today to get early the realeses of latest Daredevil and this:

The Black Beetle #1 No Way Out

Francavilla is one of my fav creators and one of few new artist that i admire greatly. He is very retro, cartooney, colourful style. The Black Beetle is Shadow like pulp hero vigilante that in 0 issue story had no troubles gunning down the bad guys and killing them. Very refreshing to read an old school vigilante like the old pulp ones.

Slowed right down now (Obviously) but caught up on the Doctor Who titles, and just read the first four issues of Daredevil End of Days.

Next up probably bringing myself up to date on the Buffyverse titles (Buffy, Angel & Faith, Spike and Willow)

Currently very much enjoying Sandman. He's just been to Hell to retrieve his mask......

Glad you are enjoying it, Crooksy. I'd guess that you are still on Preludes and Nocturnes, which I think is just about (although it is close) my favourite of the Sandman novels. I still can remember the first time I read it, and the sense of wonder that came with the feeling that this was a comic book, not something grander.

The last story in the first novel, is probably my favourite single story in The Sandman, and quite possibly comics as a whole. So I look forward to see what you think when you get there!

For you Sandman lovers, you might know (or be interested in knowing) that a new Volume, that will be a kind of prequel, is currently in the works.

Written by Gaiman and with the art done by J.H Williams III.

And let me tell you now, you couldn't hope for a better artist! Williams is astounding at his worst and just pure artgasm at his best. And knowing the style of Gaiman's writing, I am certain that Williams' art will complement it perfectly.

And he's having to take a break from Batwoman in order to do this project, so y'all better be damn grateful ;)

Speaking of which, it was New Comics day today and Batwoman was just...wow. It's been reaching higher and higher each month and now J.H has just thrown away all comic conventions and uses double page spreads constantly. And they are stunning. And he and Blackman are bringing the arc to such an incredible climax.

Yep, I'm loving this.

Yes Perp I'm still on Preludes and Nocturnes although very close to then end of this part. Agree completely that it feels like something grander. Almost as though it's opening up a whole new mythology.

That's hitting the nail right on the head. One of the things that always seems to be talked about when it comes to The Sandman is the fact that Gaiman virtually created a whole new mythology, and you are right at the start of it.

Finished (or up to date) with the current Buffy Season 9 titles.

Angel and Faith remains the strongest, although Buffy itself is getting better as it continues. The Willow limited is just about okay, but has a strong central idea, while Spike seemed to be a weak story with good standard art. The last issue turned it around a little, but it was a long journey getting there.

Next up:
Before Watchmen: Minutemen by Darwyn Cooke
