Jack Vance

Why? Cause you recommended Emphyrio :p

I just read about dying earth in amazon it sounds like something i might like.

Its apparently one of his classics too.

So my book store doesnt have one of them i will take the other.

About him writing different SF that sounds perfect cause thats what im looking for, i love the genre alot it's my fav genre and i try to read all the greats no matter how old the books are.

I mean only a month or so ago i read Heinlein for the first time( i was in awe by his skill by the way ;))

Now its for Vance,H.G. Wells,Jack Williamson

Which is why i joined these forums i mean some writers are known to all but some i have never heard before coming to these forums have become my all time fav writers.

The Dying Earth is of that odd blend which fits more into the "science fantasy" category... a lot of the techniques of science fiction, and with a blending of technology and magic, but basically a fantasy in intent.

And all the Dying Earth stories (except Michael Shea's A Quest for Simbilis) have been gathered together into one volume:

Bibliography: Tales of the Dying Earth

And yes, Vance is one of the more imaginative and unusual writers of the field; influenced by Dunsany and Clark Ashton Smith (with a dash of Cabell), among others....

Funny i was thinking if there were stories that was both SF and fantasy and i dont mean stuff like Dune,Star Wars. But stuff that that have elements of one of them while being the other.

I just called my store and ordered Emphyrio and Dying Earth stories :)

I just recently bought Suldrun's Garden, the first Lyonesse novel, and consumed it without hesitation. Vance is indeed a gifted writer and I am now set to purchase all his volumes.

Easier said than done. Many of Vance's books are now out of print.

About sending me your copies arent the shipping expensive even if we both live in europe?

It would great cause i have become addicted to some writers that i buy more books than i can afford sometimes. Of course i would send them back to you, im not a thief.

I dont even dare to gamble with money cause of my religions upbringing so stealing is alien to me ;)

But i have already ordered Emphyrio and Dying Earth stories :p

Maybe you can send some other Vance book or another good SF ?
