First Lines

He died stupidly, wastefully. You read the reports, I needn't repeat them here. It won't be his death he'll be remembered for, but his life. His wild, adventurous, reckless life.

Do you remember, about twenty years ago, about the time the Brindall Boys were terrorising the west coast? Bet you didn't know what stopped them.

He always knew someone was out to get him, but he wasn't sure why they had it in for him. The bullets whipping past him, kicking up spouts of dust in the dry track he raced along signified that they meant business and it was time for him act. Spinning around in mid stride he drew his pistols in a fluid motion and cocked the hammers ready to fire, only there was no-one there....

'War!' he muttered to himself, how he hated war, the screams of the wounded as they pleaded for a mercy they would never recieve, the decimation of families, fathers and sons mothers and daughters, many would never return to thier homes and the few that did were never the same. 'War!' he muttered again...

Moving slowly up against the wall, heart pounding in her ears, she could hear them feeding. It made her feel sick to think that in a few hours she could well be doing the same. The gentle, almost comforting, tick, tick, tick from her backpack told her otherwise.

Karri knew why she was sitting alone at the lunch table; everyone knew what act she had committed the day before, and they all knew that should they breathe a word of it, their fate would be the same.

H'arim tried to sink deeper into the alcove he had ducked into. Cursing, he attempted to slow his heart as they would surey hear it's thundering roar and discover his sancturary. The crystal tucked deep in his pocket had began to grow warm, a faint vibration signified it was about to awaken and with it the end of his chance of salvation. Suddenly, an arm like steel rapped itself around his neck and he was pulled deeper into the suffocating darkness.

The sanctuary of sleep attempted to overwhelm her again but she continued to fight it, should she stop now then she knew she would never rise again, and the people of Krakarll would be unpreparred for the darkness that followed in her wake...

Love it, Cap :D

She wasn't the first one who ever told him their love would last forever, but he'd pretty much decided she was going to be the last.

James was dead bored, probably something to do with the large hole in his head

The smell of last night lingered in his nostrils, the echoes of last night lingered in his ears. What lingered in his head was altogether different.

Once, upon the Tyne, there was a Premiership football club.

(With apologies to Till: Sorry, I couldn't help myself; and this is a fiction-based site, you know.)

It wasn’t considered murder back then. The law may have changed now but in those days the most I could be charged with was animal cruelty. I rifled through his clothing looking for anything of value then used his own lighter to set fire to his corpse. His oily green skin caught quickly and as the smell of burning flesh wafted towards me, my stomach rumbled. They taste like pork you know. Ironic, isn’t it?
