Your Favorite Comic Book Hero

BATMAN.
Hands down, screw every1 else batman!

he rocks, not just coz he's badass but because he dosnt have any powers and is still able to kick bad guy ass!

that and he is proberly the only super hero, nay ,only person in the universe, to run around in a bat suit and not look stoopid.

VIVA LA BATMAN!

(I do not care for robin)

My absolute favorite character/hero/protagonist is John Constantine, from Hellblazer. What's not to like about a guy who gives the Devil the finger?

As far as traditional superheroes go, I have to say Batman. Like practically everyone else. Aren't I original?

Well, I'm going to buck the trend, and go for my favourite weather-witch: Storm!

There's only really one choice, eh? It's got to be Wolverine (I know, he's still a bit en vogue after the movies, but what can I do?). Preferrably as rendered by one of the Kuberts. Bub.

Jackie Estacado would come in a close second (not really a hero, I guess, but a main protagonist).

WORD!!

JC is my fav character of all comics. He is not a hero as he himself says alot of the times which is why he wasnt in my list.

He is a loveable *******, sometimes you hate him for his mean streak but most of the time you cant stop liking him. You feel like one of the many friends he got killed :p

Well I'm definitely going with Batman, although for a hero who is apparently the best martial-artist on the planet and a top detective with years of street experience and not to mention years of experience up against the worst villians on the planet, the writers seem obsessed in getting him captured and beaten up. So much so I quit reading the comics years ago but I've got a thousand or so in my attic! Really should get rid of them.

I think the idea behind this kind of thing is that they are trying put across the 'he's only human' aspect. OF course it can go too far sometimes but I think I'd rather them be too fallable than be incapable of falling foul to anything.

Spidey. The Stan Lee version, preferably with Steve Ditko.

Now, I haven't any read any comic books since I was about 10. I only ever read Marvel, never DC, and this version of Spidey was always my favourite. So, thanks for bringing back some good memories, Nick P!:)

well well.. the big old question.. okay, so here is my problem:
I don't think I'm able to define my favorite super hero.

like so many of you, I relly like Superman. He is the big ruling Ultra-Mega-Super-Hyper-Perfect superhero, that's also why I sometimes find him too powerful. Cause you know, first he is so strong, he can beat up like five bullies at the same time, then he has to fight a clever enemie with a big 'n dreadful gun, then he is as strong to fight him. next time, there is like an army of enemies with big ass guns, and he is just strong enough to win that battle. and then there accidently is like an alien as strong as superman, he cuts is fine.. an army of aliens like this before, he is just about to be defeated before he wins.. that's just to many levels he exceeds, a bit like in Dragonball Z, where theses fighters always rises another level of power which happens to be double/triple/quardruple(4 times, yes it is a word, google it :p ) more powerful than before.. that blows the top too much..

okay, then there is batman. so cool, because he rules the game without big fame (gosh, that was a bad rhyme :p ) and without having one single superpower beside his trained physical and mental abilities. but he kind of is too addicted to his utility-gadget-whatever-bat-belt.. but he so rules in the justice league, because just that no-superpower-fact and nevertheless helping the other members of the league and fighting the bad guys..

then I find spider-man ultra cool.. this enormous agility and at athleticism... too gorgeous. but on the other hand, he sometimes is very depressive.. and a little too much of this swinging around the city.

I could continue like this in 10 years or so, but in the end, there really is no real superhero which I could call my favorite. there more is like a favorite super power. so herewith I announce a new topic "my favorite super power".. or so.. so please come and join the discussion :)

Dr. Dan

Ah

Fave superhero, has to be Spiderman, love his wit and dogged determination to do the right thing even when it costs him so very dear.

I think the portrayal's of some superhero's can be a bit carboard cutout sometimes. Superman does sufer from this charicterisation IMO. For those of you who dont like Superman i would recomend the Batman Superman cross over comic (in Graphic Novel form now) and you will see another side to him through the little asides dotted all the way through. I rather enjoyed this view of him.

Well I have to choose from DC and Marvel at least one.

From Marvel it's very easy: Deadpool. The wacky merc with a mouth. Never shuts up, never stops caring and killing at the same time.

From DC it's hard to choose between Batman and Jason Todd. Can anyone make some arguments about one or the other?

I must be in the minority as I am not a fan of batman, infact not a big fan of DC in general as I was more a Marvel fan, Deadpool was a rather cool baddie but my favorites where Iron Man, Shatterstar and Warpath(last 2 from X-force before it all changed)

I must be in the minority, too - when I still read comics/graphic novels, I always read more Marvel. That said, I always liked the Rogue/Gambit storylines in X-men, although it went on for far too long.

I don't read any Marvel these days. I read more manga instead, but very few would recognize some of the heroes from most of those titles.:)

I'd say Wonder Woman and Amethyst:princess of Gemworld, are pretty even as my female number one's. They are what got me interested in comics in the first place as a young girl. It was nice to see strong female characters in interesting stories around them.

For my male number one: Batman, but mostly because he's moody and brooding and I've always had a "comic crush" on his character. (and he's super cool)

Hulk Smashes Puny Competition!

My favorite was The Incredible Hulk, particularly the Peter David years. While I don't like the whole "proper hero" turn, too, I did greatly admire Mr. David's ability to write him still as an anti-hero and utterly noncommittal with the spandex wearing crowd.

Even as a child, I think I never was on board with righteous heroes and their epic quests.

Oh, if we are going the mango route, I would say that Picollo was my favorite.

Hmm, I am noticing a trend of favoring the green skinned anti-heroes....
