The chronicles word counter!

Brain glitch...

Unfinished
Novel: P_for_Pleistocene.
Genre: SF {ISOT ??}
Word Count: 88,400+
Status: After a couple of ghastly 'flu-Blues weeks when I wrote very little, I've managed to finish chapter 31. That completes my fifth ~100kb text file...

I'd just started on #32 when I realised I'd 'lost' their only shovel: Was it in the cave ? Or had the away team taken it to the coast ?

Turned out to be the latter, but then I realised I'd forgotten where or how many trees had been polled for firewood...

So, I spent a couple of days copy/pasting essential details into a 'notes' file. 24 chapters condensed to ~75 kb text file. Tomorrow, I'll summarise #25~~31, print my notes and perhaps feel able to continue writing...

I blame the brain-glitch on post-'Flu Blues...

OK I'm new here, but I like the idea of this thread, so I'll join in if that's OK!

Novel: Unnamed

Genre: Fantasy
Word Count: 138,000
Status: WIP. This is a long-gestating novel of which I had about 50,000 words written, until about 3 months ago, when my wife's encouragement finally got me back to the writing desk. Since then I've finished part 1 (of 3) at 72,000 words, and am 68,000 words into part 2, with about a chapter and a half of that section remaining.
I'm then going to go back and add a lot of things into both parts, as the story has evolved in certain areas that I had underwritten previously.
When the whole thing is finished, I expect a complete manuscript of 220,000 - 250,000 words. I'm trying to write 1,000 words per day, as life is very full.
Encouragement and nagging are both very welcome.

Just realised my sums didn't add up there (which is embarrassing, given my day-job); the true figures at the moment (before tonight's writing) are 72,500 and 69,500 so 142,000 and counting.

First update (won't do this daily...)

Novel: Unnamed

Genre: Fantasy
Word Count: 143,000
Status: WIP. 72,500 in part 1 and 70,500 in part 2. Got my 1,000 done today, though it was a struggle. A lot of dialogue. Coming to the conclusion of a Part is always tricky because you've to tie a couple of strands together. Getting there, though

Novel: Unnamed

Genre: Fantasy
Word Count: 147,875
Status: WIP. Have added 4,800 words since the last update, so that's pretty tasty. Very close to the end of Part 2 now (another 1,000 - 2,000 words - will hopefully finish tomorrow night), then it'll be a lot of revision of the first 2 parts, before continuing with Part 3. :D

OK it really looks like I'm the only one in here; maybe I'll start nagging some of you guys... But this is a momentous occasion, so I want to mark it.

Novel: Unnamed

Word Count: 149,409
Status:
WIP. Only another 1500 words, but important ones. Part 2 is completed.
Woohoo
!
Quite a bit of revision of the last 2-3 chapters to be done in the next couple of days, but basically yay!
2/3s of the way there.

Congratulations on finishing Part 2!

You're not the only one posting-- but perhaps the only one with so much getting done so quickly!!

i concur with TJ.

here's the skinny:

Malessar's Curse: Heir to the North
epic fantasy
107000 words
stalling again, due to busyness of christmas. it's impossible to give this the attention it deserves at this time of the year.

Empire Dance 3: The Kiiren Boy
whizzy episodic space flannel
8500 words.
target here is 50k again, with some cute cliffhangers set up for part 4. this time i'll see if i can write each storyline to its programmed finish before starting the next one and hopping about like an easter bunny.

Been busy with work, pregnant wife and 9mth old baby for the past fortnight, so have gotten very little done, but I revised a good chunk of the middle of Part 2, and have started to insert a new Chapter 2 into Part 1 to try to flesh out some background that I realised was insufficiently explained. Not sure if it's going to work yet, but it's worth a go.
Anyway, current word count is around 152,250 or so.

Novel: The Eternity Sphere
Genre: SF for YA (probably)
Word Count: 57,654
Status: Had to backtrack by 1,000 words. Resolved some issues too early, and it read terribly. That didn't help. Also working on rewrite of critiqued piece.

The Barbarians' Key, now 32830. Including notes.

I am going to suck at NaNoWriMo!! :p

Turns out I didn't suck at the NaNo... but the pretty graph helped me. I need to get me a graph...

The Barbarians' Key now at 35000 words. This is the first time I've worked on it since before November. Now the NaNo's over, my last unfinished short story is finished, I can get on with it. I will get on with it. Promise.

Completed
Great Divide 7,700
The Cold Hand 12,700
Sailing To Tarshish 5,900
Ringside 8,400
Under A Darkening Sky (needs a rewrite) 27,700
Whisper My Name (under revision) 101,700

In Progress
Will This Night Never End 21,900
Beggars & Choosers 5,100
Not Here, Not Now 17,800
The Bright And Hollow Sky 19,700
Hard Landing 32,000
Catch My Shadow 17,400

Everything apart from 'Hard Landing' has been written since I discovered the Chrons, and I seriously believe I couldn't have done it without you. Cheers!

'P for Pleistocene'

Those post-flu Blues took a lot of shifting.

I've finally managed to merge, edit and tidy the two clumsy attempts at the start of 'Day#32' that are all I've written in the last *five* weeks.

Well, it isn't great literature, but it flows...

The away team are still down at the coast. Mike's uttered some meaningful asides and washed a couple of sweaty sleeping bags. This afternoon, they'll weave some more soaked withies into the door screen. There aren't any BIG gaps, just too many small slits...

Oh, yay, my turn. :}

Novel: The Changing Angel
Genre: Fantasy, with a tad of Sci-Fi
Word Count: 93,266, including chapters and the title with my name, spanning 205 pages and just into the 26th chapter.
Status: Ongoing. I have more words than what I'm posting on a steno pad, but they haven't been typed yet, and so I'm not counting them. I'm only seriously working on this project right now, and it's slow going, though I do have some vague ideas for a couple other stories.

Title: Night Never Ends (was WTNNE)
Genre: Angel Heart territory
Word Count: 25,000
Status: I had 6 definate scenes in my head which would take it to the expected blood-soaked conclusion (about 6-10k words), but it seems to be taking longer to express myself than I expected. The end result will probably be 35k-ish, which is a nice awkward length.

Empire Dance vol.3
space flannel-a-go-go
@14500 words
ok, so half the word count is a scene that was actually written over six years ago, but that will be re-edited to fit the changed plot when the draft is completed. the newer scenes are coming along surprisingly easy, but i'm going to have to shelve this volume soon to resume work on HTTN...

Status: Still plugging away at this in approx. 1k segments, although the narrative has hardly advanced any.
