Hi, dear friend,

Remember my first draft of AE? It was 189.000 words.
Remember the 5th. draft? It was 140.000 words.

The draft I'll send for the last proofread is... drum roll... 118.000 words!

I'm so happy. It was so difficult, making the story so much shorter without losing too much of the main scenes or cutting off characters. I have to thank my amazing beta readers. You rock!

Anyway, I gotta get back to work.

First draft of Galaxy done: 45460. Lots of notes for the next draft, new character emerged at the end - i had a picture on my wall who was supposed to be mc, but they weren't merging, and then this one just blasted into her, fab - and the prologue has to be sorted. But the bones are there! Way hay!

Just finished writing Chapter 23, the big action packed chapter that puts me close to the finishing posts of Under Elysium's Light.

Two Chapters to go and word count up to 99868

New thing: 330 words written today! Ooh. So it's now 5711. I gave one of the character's mother the surname of 'Lode.' If I decide to give her son the same name, it means my two POVs are Locke and Lode. Heh. That might have to change.

Finished chapter 24 yesterday, then went straight into the final chapter, only...

When I saved 24, the computer glitzed, I did not it at the time, but when I tried to copy the file as a backup it was recognised as corrupted, and there seems to be no way of opening, or even copying.

3,000 words up, 3,000 words down and a chapter to do over.

I managed to find a program that restored deleted files to my computer, and it somehow (blind luck) restored a previously saved version of Chapter 24.

I lost 600 words, but a lot better than the whole kit and kaboodle. Now time to rewrite thos 600...

Well, following the disaster of yesterday, I've managed to complete Chapter 24 for the second time, and that brings the the total word count for Under Elysium's Light to 103,756

Now one chapter to go.

Well what a strange feeling, just completed Chapter 25 of Under Elysium's Light, and as such the first draft of the novel itself.

106,604 Words.

I think I need to lie down.

Or go and write a 75 word story and think about a 300 word one.
