The Colour of Magic AND The Light Fantastic coming to Sky One!

Again, Cohen is a character that requires skinny. Whilst DJ is hardly corpulent he's not the twanging tendons and alive-through-not-dying of Cohen.

true, but age and character wise, DJ is so much closer to Cohen than he is to Rincewind.

I can picture DJ as Cohen and hear him say the lines as the character I heard in my head when I first read the books but no matter how hard I try, I just can't see him as Rincewind.

I've only found mention on here Discworld Monthly - Issue 121

It appears that David Jason has been offered the role of Rincewind in the upcoming adaptation of The Colour of Magic. This move worries Discworld Monthly as we don't really consider Rincewind to be quite so old (no disrespect to David Jason, a great actor)! We also feel they will run into trouble when they get to Mort as David Jason will have to play both Rincewind and Albert on screen at the same time. We feel that Rincewind was more Rodney than Delboy and expect this is more about star names than sensible casting. We are, as ever, prepared to be proven wrong.

It appears that David Jason has been offered the role of Rincewind in the upcoming adaptation of The Colour of Magic.

well as DJ is a self confessed fan of TP, we can only hope that he too sees Rincewind as a younger and thinner man and turns down the part (it isn't as if he needs the money)
and as has been pointed out, there are many other roles that he would be far more suitable for if the producers really were set on having his name in the cast list

on a side note, I just had a totally random thought on who would make a reasonable paring of Rincewind and Twoflower...............................

Steve Coogan and Jackie Chan (they worked well together in around the world in 80 days but I expect that the budget wouldn't be up to it :( )

Hmmm, steve coogan as Rincewind. That might work. And I love Jackie Chan, but Twoflower isn't really his role :p (Maybe one of the Red Army)

I don't know,
Twoflower has an open, innocent and friendly expression and looks like he shouldn't be allowed out on his own, which is a role that Jackie CHan could easily play

But... twoflower doesn't kick people around! I'm sure any Jackie Chan fans expecting him to play a role would expect some kickery.

Absolutely, you can't have Jackie Chan appearing in something and not kicking the butt of at least fifty bad guys!

Now, does Twoflower have four eyes? I know on the books he is drawn as having that many and it is mentioned briefly in the book...Think the producers of this will give him four eyes?

I am kind of hopefull about this one, quite frankly I found the Hogfather a bit, well , I just didnt think it worked. There were individual fashes of fantastic acting and nice effects but I think this should have been made first!

This production may be good but as most folk are saying David Jason is just a bit old for Rincewind. I think Nigel Planer would have been a better choice meself, even although he was already in the Hogfather.

I on the other hand think Jackie Chan might be fantastic as Twoflower.

See, I did think it was referring to glasses when I was reading the book (it's been a while since I read it so I don't know what made me think it)...but the illustrations on my copies of The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic shows Twoflower with four eyes. As in...four eyes. Hee.

my cover illustrations also showed 4 eyes

anyway, I think Jackie Chan could be a great Twoflower with his very respectful broken English and open expression and as he is getting on a bit himself, I expect he would like to take a break from the butt kicking and just do a bit of acting and having fun rather than joining the waiting lists for hip replacements
