Tyrion's Third - Tywin and the Greyjoys.

Lol....that kind of RP is ***** :p
I was talking more like storyformat RP :p
Theres a Song of Ice and Fire Roleplay board thingy called Lords of Westeros.

Are you bashing d&d!? >:O

Well sorta :p I love Forgoten Realms novels and PC Games but the whole sitting in a dark basement rolling dice and all that just seems reaaaally sad to me. *Shrug* We all have our limits of geekyness xD

Apparently my level of geekyness is pretty high. I haven't played in years, and never in a dark basement, but spending time with friends can't be that terrible. Can it?

Well depends whatyour idea of spending time with friends is. Mines going into town, smoking some bud and skating etc.
*Shrug*

I do not sow...

I admit to liking the Greyjoy POV's. Yes, even Theon's.

And, ahem, Asha...

You do not sow, good, sowing is rather gay :p
Nah I know that's the Greyjoy words.

Ponders if Tk is Randal Lannister

Couldn't have put it better.

OK, Boaz, I'm really big fan of yours, but I'm afraid that this time you stepped inside a bucket. I'm agree that it was strange that ironmen did not attack closer targets like Lannisport or Seagard, but when Euron started his actions, then Tywin was already dead, so whatever deal was made between them was off. Euron was crazy but wise enough do understand that Tywin's death was sunset to Lannisters. So it was poinless to him to continue fulfilling dead man's plans. I strongly believe that Euron alone made up plan how to get Balon out of his way.

Shut up. Just shut up. You had me at fan... you had me at fan.

<tears of joy stream down Boaz' face>

Do you have a fan club Boaz? :D
No seriously, great theories and speculations.

Thanks Tysha.

But another way to say "great theories and speculations" is.... "You swallow all of GRRM's red herrings hook, line, and sinker!"

Euron hired a faceless man to kill Balon. That old dwarf woman on that hill told them about what was to come about that. Something about a man on a swaying bridge and he didnt see the faceless man approaching.

I dont think Euron is the man to take alliances and keeps trying to get into Oldtown more than anything. I think it has something to do with Dany and her dragons, maybe? Such a source of knowledge as Oldtown would be help with many things.

Yup this is one theory that sounds cool, but i dont believe it, i rather think oen of the iroborn contenders hired the facelesss men to shove Balon off a bridge. The reason they raided the Tyrells was that Starks coasts been picked clean already, at the Lannister lands a new host was being formed so there would be heavy resistance, and the Tyrells are the richest of them all, something they never kept hidden, so i think it was just a quiestion of finding the biggest unprotected pickning basket and start eating.

About Tywins comment about some wars are won with letters and diplomacy, i always thought this was about the Freys, that he had set the things in motion that ended with the Rain of Castlemere, part 2.

Some of the best sailors in the world ??? BAHAHAHAHHA NO me thinks not !! The Greyjoys are kind of like Vikings with boats that can't go to far from land. Oh yes some of them(Euron) have gone far, ON LUCK !! The reason the Lannisters weren't attacked is their cities are to well protected. Come on, the longships are better suited to raids, go in, plunder, and get the hell out ! Sure they can cause heaps of trouble and distruction, but are they capable of holding anything for long ? They have their use, don't get me wrong, but they certainly aren't a superpower. Sure the pirates in the bathtub boats could take over a yaught, but only if the captain was a fat , aging, narcoleptic, drunk. Their strength is in numbers, skill, and surprise. Not the type to hold a large, well defended city.

Now, Boaz..... Yes Tywin was quite likely having some sort of discussions with Balon, but murdering him..... The Greyjoys are raiders, how would you know where one would turn up next? To murder Balon and hope that one of the siblings would feel honor bound to join your cause is just...funny. Sure Tywin would have handed Balon a "kingly title", but we all know Balon had his eye on a much larger prize. He pays the iron price, he would never take a handout from Tywin. If he was murdered by Lannisters, I would think it would have been just to remove him as a potential threat. Euron showing up a day later ? Well, Eurons own words "coinsidence".
Was it the Iron Islanders , who were the ones that removed Balon? Euron ? Likely. Victorion ? Unlikely . Asha? Doubt it. Some sort of red priestess devil baby ? Thats where my money would lie !
No doubt the longships will have a huge part to play, but I think this has more to do with horns and dragons , not Lannisters.:D

I found your connections kinda strange. you say they are kinda like Vikings and yet you say they are bad sailors. Vikings where among the best sailors the world have ever seen. Their ships where nothing short of amazing, and in many ways far better then the ships we had at the time. It where the Vikings wich where the first to discover North America though they did not realize it, using Greenland (even now connected to Denmark) as a stepping stone. They could harass the entire north coast of Europe with ease, wich is saying much. Because those seas are a lot more dangerous then the one in the Middle sea.

Also it seems clear from the chapters, that it is not the ships preventing the Ironborn from going to far from land, but their own fears. Those like Euron who are more bold succeed in their intensions. If you look at the middle ages, all ships stayed within sight from land. Not only because they did not have proper navigation tools, but also out of fear that the land was flat and that if they went too far they would fall off.
