Dance with Dragons release date?

I have lost faith in GRRM. He will not finish the series before he is called to his celestial exit. Dance with Dragons my ass. He can't even finish a book that's half finished at the start of a year, much less the rest of the volumes. Move on people.

Unless you have a crystal ball that actually works, there are only two people who can truly answer that question: GRRM and his Publisher.

Wasn't it William Shatner who asked, "Does anybody really know?" It certainly is a credit to the man's skill that, after making fans wait so long, he's still one of the more popular authors in fantasy.
Truthfully I wish all authors would write with as much care as GRRM does.

I was wondering the same thing but I have come to the conclusion that teenagers these days can no longer speak any real language and that we are de-evolving to the time of cavemen with grunts as sentences.

It's always bitterly disappointing to see this thread updated and not get a release date. I feel like Charlie Brown.

lolz, omfg he nvr nd.

rolf, imho l33t spk is teh bst.

Sometimes I want to lodge a bullet in my cranium.

IF YOU DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE NEXT BOOK, YOU WOULDN'T BE COMPLAINING!

Fine, if you're irritated about the time it takes for him to write something that we all love, that's your perogative.

Then don't read it.

Just.Don't.Read.It.

kicks dead horse

I think i speak for every young person here when i say this I wont be lectured on grammar or anything for that matter from anyone whose avatar is a half naked stormtrooper.

Seriously i never thought i'd ever have to say that to someone again

Uh, sorry about the above post (text?). I admittedly didn't read throught the forum's rules/terms of use. It was meant to be slightly sarcastic. I am anxiously awaiting Mr. Martin's next book and will be a loyal fan regardless of his timeliness (or lack thereof). :)

I agree, only fully naked storm troopers can lecture me :D

Welcome Chmee from your local half naked and assumed old and cranky stormtrooper. (I do not consider myself old but that it is a matter of personal opinion I suppose). I didn't realize that I was lecturing anyone but if I was, this old bag of bones would rather not argue the point with the Me Generation.

Seriously, I defer to the forum rules and hope I don't ever have to say that to someone again. Some of us old timers have a hard time remembering how to type sometimes. We are nice people, especially when the nursing home staff feed us well on spaghetti nights. ;)

Two things come to mind with this thread....

1) Chmee said "again"...as in Ive been lectured by half naked storm troopers before. Kinky, just kinky.

2) TKs is a girl??!!!!omgfordfocus!!!!! Tell me I read that wrong. My head may go all splodey!!!grll!!!!!!!

Actually, that's a picture of Mrs. TK (well, not really). I can dig kinky but if it were really me, that's perhaps kinkier than I am willing to go. Why do I have Erasure or Pet Shop Boys songs in my head all of a sudden?

I would never intendly lead you astray and make you head go splodey.

Everyone (of an older generation) likes to call my generation the me generation, iGen or even Y bother generation etc etc. But i honestly feel thats the media branding/imaging us and is also a form of ignorance. I say ignorance because you forget your generation or the ones older than yours were in fact more rebelious and less well informed on the goings on of the world than my generation.

For all you oldies i would like to say you were once like us (young and lazy and hip and full of attitude etc-yes i said lazy) and if you were part of our generation you would do just as we would so there! You should have a close look at your attitudes when you were in your teens/early twenties before criticising our entire generation.

Finally, in my last point, i refer to the Lion King as a reference. Its all got to do with the "Circle of Life". In other words one day i will unfortunately be an old man claiming i respected my elders more than i did and was a goody too-shoes when i wasn't/am not and i will criticise my children and grandkiddies for being careless and lazy even though i was in fact like them -just like you were once like us!!

NEERRRRRRRRR!!!! :p and LOL

YES I SAID LOL! HAH! :D

oh and btw (its easier than typing BY THE WAY) to keep this on topic if a member of Y generation was writing ASOIAF (wait a minute that was one of you oldies who abbreviated that hmmmm.....) it would be finished as we would type faster although Robb and Tyrion would say things like 'sup' and knights would say 'homie' and 'man' ;)

prolog

'omgwtf' sed w/royce
'haha pwned' sed wil
others: 'kthnxbai wil'
'o noes'

Hmm, can't say I'd have turned the page.

By the way, easier or not, it's against forum policy (as pointed out earlier) and will be moderated if it goes too far.

Using abbreviations is against forum policy?

Akshully, I think I would. Could be a Bored of the Rings for the 21st century?

Also, if GRRM used abbreviations maybe he would have finished it by now (argh, froth, rage, etc)

From what I hear and read, GRRM's wife is the one to answer the question. Martin seems to be overly optimistic and his wife just shakes her head.

You should say fortunate to reach old age. Just think of the alternative---dead! And I don't criticize my children or grandchildren. My children are better parents than I ever way and my grandchildren are really good kids.:p

Then perhaps we need to have less of Wiggum flogging that horse and more of Mrs Martin nagging GRRM.
