The Second Pan Book of Horror Stories
and
The Fourth Fontana Book of Great Horror Stories

I am currently reading The Wreck of the River of Stars by Michael Flynn

Have just started re-reading Reaper's Gale by Steven Erikson. I really enjoyed re-reading The Bonehunter's and meeting some of my favourite characters again.
I had intended to re-read the series so that I finished it just before the next volume makes it to the bookshops in August! It's very easy to become engrossed in these stories and before you know it, it's time to start another book! :D

Just ordered:

The Mad Baron's Mechanical Attic and The Choir of Knives: An Omnibus, the two prequel novellas to Scott Lynch's Locke Lamora series.

Last Arguement of Kings by Joe Abercrombie.

(Non fiction) Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Baghdad's Green Zone by Rajiv Chandrasekaran.

All of which should be arriving in the next week or two. Untill then I'm re-reading the first two Books of the First Law in anticipation of Last Arguement of Kings.

Well, I sort of finished Stars in my Pocket Like Grains of Sand by Samuel Delany. I read the first eighty pages and ended up skimming through the rest of the book. I have to say that I very rarely give up on books but I just couldn't make it with this one. The 62 pages of introduction wasn't too bad, but while reading he rest of the book I just thought it was pretentious. There were way too many paragraphs that were over a page long, and the story didn't go anywhere after the introduction. I was dissapointed. If anyone else has read the book let me know I'd be interested to know what you thought.

Next up another Heinlein - Farnham's Freehold.

I liked several of Delany’s works, but I didn’t care much for Stars in My Pocket Like Grains of Sand. I read it quite a while back and don’t remember much, other than not liking it. For what it's worth, I read Farnham’s Freehold recently and didn’t care much for that one either.

My latest is Software, by Rudy Rucker, my first by him. It’s one of his earlier works and the first of a four-part series. It’s a short cyberpunk ditty. It was a touch dated (1982), but still a fun, crisp read. I rate this one a 7 out of 10. I’ll definitely continue with the series at some point. I want to see how his writing and storytelling develop. I already have the second and third volumes in my TBR pile and the fourth on my hunting list.

Just finished up There is No Darkness by Jack Haldeman II & Joe Haldeman, and The Mysterious Planet by Lester Del Rey.

Finally had a chance to finish No Name, by Wilkie Collins. While I felt that it occasionally was a bit drawn out, even a day after finishing it I find that things I was a bit reserved on when reading it are adding to my enjoyment of it in retrospect. As usual, melodramatic, but Collins does use that very well, and has much to say besides.

Have now begun a re-read of Moorcock's The Winds of Limbo (a.k.a. The Fireclown)...

I'm now reading Armor by John Steakley after hearing a bunch of good news about it.

Read through Butcher Dead Beat which had a lot of nice imagery but I don't want to spoil those who haven't read it. A lot of laughs, but at some point I started to wonder whether there will be enough Dresden left for next books.
Then started and finished Stross The Jennifer Morgue (and it wasn't because Ursa read it :p ) - I'd rather characterize it as Maxwell Smart meets Lovecraft ... with a lot of computer jokes and black humor. Very enjoyable and I'll probably read The Atrocity Archives as it was very entertaining next so sorry Lynch and Locke you are shelved for a while again.

I wonder what you mean by wondering about there will be enough Dresden left next books ? You mean storywise ? humor ? character development ?

Dresden is one of my new fav series so.
