Final lines....

His scarred face was etched with sadness. He looked down from his throne, past short legs swinging child-like between sharp points of steel. Dead, he thought. All dead. Mother, father, sister, brother... that last brought a twist of sadness to him. Dead upon his word, or by his hand. All dead. And for what? For this?

He sighed, wishing it could all be over so that he could retire to his rooms with a gallon of the Arbor's finest. A cold room, alone. He barely heard the cry as it was taken up by the crowd. He tried a weak grin, but found he could not stomach it.

"All hail Tyrion of Westeros," they crowed, "King of the Seven Kingdoms!"

Fools, he thought. Damned fools.

"Wester Ross is a bit dull", he said. "It's back to the bright lights of Inverness for me."

So that's it? he thought, closing the book.

I'm sooooo tempted to nick that one, Tal
(resist temptation, resist - resist)

The rain carried on falling, the world kept on turning. All in all ...

He smiled and took her hand in his as they walked through the wreckage together with hope renewed.

Wasn't that the end of a bond movie - the one with jaws

A few million years would pass, their sun would turn red and there would be no memory the planet ever existed.

Damn it! Unconsciously nicked stuff too!! (Moonraker, I think the space station blew up, though )

Okay, try this instead ...

He smiled and took her hand in his as they walked through the garden together with hope renewed.

:)

"I'm glad that's all over," he said, folding his arms around her. She murmured her assent.
"Let's get out of here."
But as their ship set out from the harbour, sailing grandly into deeper waters, the engine suddenly exploded; the ship sunk and everyone died.

[Muahah...]

I don't mind if you nick that one, Interference.:)

Brokenly, she watched as the sun went down, before she finally resumed her long exile.

They watched from afar as the flames engulfed the entire city; not one building escaped their fiery wrath.
"All those people...all those buildings...what could've caused it?" he said sadly, the fierce orange light dancing in his wide eyes.
"It's for the best," she said. She slipped the matches into her pocket and gently steered him away, leaving the burning city behind.

As she slowly turned around and looked at his face she realized that maybe he hadn't betrayed her.

[*Bows* Thankee, thankee.]

"Thank god that's over," he said.
"Absolutely. Now I can finally get out of here. Bye."
He watched her retreating form with wide eyes. "But...after all we've been through...! You said you loved me!" he yelled.
Without pausing, without even looking back over her shoulder, she shrugged. "I lied."

As she fell, and as the last of the great creatures faded into the darkness above, she knew she was in the soup. Turtles all the way down? The very phrase mocked her.

It wasn't enough that they had destroyed all of their instruments, in the midst of the smoke, the noise, and the rest of the melee, a timid looking little Tommy Smothers walked out on stage with a ukelele, when Pete came over and proceeded to grab it from a startled Tommy's hands, and began smashing it on the floor. The crowd cheered even more.
