Feast for Crows: what should be in it?

WinterIsComing: not quite correct. The laws of the Seven Kingdoms place men before women in the succession, but don't exclude women. There are many women who've inherited titles in the books because of the lack of a male heir - Maege Mormont, Lady Oakheart, Shella Whent: even Stannis' own daughter Shireen is his heir.

Excellent point. I still don't think they they would accept a woman if a male alternative was available. Then again...three big dragons makes people accept allot.

Yeah, I know, I was being a little harsh on Stannis. I was just rereading the books and was getting jack of his constant 'I don't want it, but I have to have it! For the good of the realm!' schtick. But he does redeem himself at the end of ASoS. 'I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne.' Though that was mostly Davos's doing, in truth.

True but if he wasn't inclined to think that way, then he never would've agreed to it in the first place.

It seems like Melisandre embodies pride, and Davos humility. They're like the angel and the devil perched on each shoulder. Stannis is definitely a better person with Davos around, and perhaps a good person only when Davos is around. I imagine it would be hard to stay humble when an incredibly beautiful and incredibly powerful woman is absolutely certain you are, in essence, the chosen one.
