Signing Events.

Mark, that is great news. As soon as you know what venues in Scotland can you let me know. I'll let Mum know that you will be in Witney.

Mark,

What's the latest on the signing tour? Has it been successful? Do you think that being Waterstones' book of the month for readers aged 12+ was a big help to the launch of Imperial Spy?

And when do you get a holiday?!

Patrick, the signing tour is officially over, but ongoing. All the venues I'm doing from now onwards are ones that I've organised personally. The launch was very successful and I have been overwhelmed by how helpful and supportive Waterstones have been throughout. I did my first Waterstones signing with Imperial Spy just over a week ago. It was a huge success. I've now got another one coming up in a few weeks.

As for the holiday, well I've just got back from 5 days skiing in Austria. It was a wonderful break after a sustained period of hard work. I'm now back into the editing of Imperial Assassin and am over half way through.

A few upcoming events for anyone who is interested:

10 June 2006 - Signing in Brent Cross WH Smith from 9am - 5pm

24 June 2006 - My first signing event with another author! Amanda Hemingway and I will be in Ottakars, Slough, from 10am - 4.30pm.

15 July 2006 - Signing in Waterstones, Milton Keynes - times TBD.

In addition to these signing events, I'm also going to be talking in the following schools: King Edward V1th School & Stratford Girls Grammar School, Stratford on Avon; Bishop Ramsey School, Ruislip; St Joseph's School, Chalfont; Cherwell School, Oxford; Thomas Alleynes School, Uttoxeter; Polesworth School, Tamworth; Heronsgate School, Milton Keynes.

For those 'up north', I'm also making a trip to Middlesbrough to do an event linked to the opening of the new library there. The event will take place on Friday 7th July 2006, but I'm not sure yet what format this will take. I also intend to sign books the following day in Middlesbrough, but have yet to organise a venue.

Have now provisionally arranged to sign in Middlesbrough Waterstones from 11am until 3pm on Saturday 8th July.

Have also been advised of an invitation to sign in Harrods - more news on that one shortly.

Harrod's eh?
Very swish :)

Ironically I'm spending a lot of time working in Nodnol at the moment, so I may be able to make that one!

The date for the Harrods signing has been set as 3 June in the afternoon. I know that's not a lot of notice, but if anyone is in the London area on the weekend after next, then I'd be delighted to see you there.

So come on, Mark - how did it go? I'm dying to hear what it's like to do a signing in Harrods!! :)

Patrick.

Great fun, Patrick. It was rather strange to hear my presence being announced throughout the store on the tannoy system, I grant you, but it's a big place ... seriously big! I sold out of books in record time, but I don't think they'd reckoned on my being able to sell many judging by the level of stock they'd got in. It seems the book manager was impressed, however, as I've been invited back. :)

A charm spell in your pocket have you?

You never cease to amaze me Mark. A staid old institution like Harrod's and you manage to fob off every copy? Have your publishers tried to hire you for PR yet? :D

Congratulations :)

I'm anxiously awaiting this 'polished' novel of which you speak so highly, it's to be published this year right? Very interested to see how it all comes out. And now I've had a sad thought, we've still got more waiting to do for number three too!

Sh! Don't go giving away my secrets, Dwndrgn - all the other authors will want one too!

It's due for release on 6th November this year. The third one, Imperial Traitor, is well underway. I should finish drafting it in September, which puts me well ahead of schedule. I'll then be re-writing Dragon Pact from scratch with a totally different start and a very different storyline to the one I first envisaged.

Edit: Oh, yes, and I'm signing in Brent Cross WH Smith tomorrow if anyone's in that part of the city. :)

Excellent work. :)

Great news on the Harrods signing, wish I could have been there.

Looking forward to your journey north of the border into Scotland, can't wait to see you again
