Jon Snow Must Die *May Contain Spoilers*

Ya know....Ygritte told the story of Bael the Bard and there were all kinds of foreshadowings in it....

1. Bael pretended to be a singer and crossed the wall to sing for the lord of Winterfell (Mance did the same when Robert came calling)

2. Bael stole the daughter of the current lord and hid in the crypts (Bran and Rickon hid there as well)

3. Bael eventually massed his wildlings and had to be put down by the young lord of winterfell (his son) Jon did the same thing at the wall to Mance.

4. Bael died in combat with his son because he refused to lift a finger to defend against his own blood....I have no idea if that ties to anything but it seemed important enough that Ygritte had to get back to the story and add it.

Boaz...dont worry Frodo and Sam were straight....

Now Legolas and Gimli could make Loras and Renly look like Joe DiMaggio and JFK by comparison if you read into things a little bit.

tsw, what do you mean exactly by "anti-romance"? Do you mean a romance that dishonors the memory of Ygritte? Do you mean a one night stand?

I recall Jon shouting at Benjen, "I will never father a *******!" Will this remain true or will it prove to be something that Jon did not understand as a boy? Will he father a *******?

No, I mean a love-hate relationship.

I would be perfectly fine if it dishonored Ygritte. But no, that wasn't the meaning.

I think Jon is one of the few Starks left who can make an impact. I think killing him off just for the sake of Ghost howling would be a bit of a waste of a character whos got too much room to develop. Jon is tied to the wall right now yes but only as long as the wall stands. It could very well fall and Westeros could be plunged into some kind of dark age and the only savior could be Dany and her dragons + Jon Snow and his knowledge of the others...maybe. I think with Martin's track record of unexpected deaths he could have Jon mortally wounded or almost killed and the only thing to bring him back could very well be Ghost breaking his silence. Similar to Bran and his connection with Summer.

I find Jon annoying at times but only because he's not yet matured. He can develop into something more just like Jaime has.

Hmmm. I actually think that all the Stark kids that are still alive have a big role to play. Sansa hasn't really done anything yet, but I really think she will. Everytime you think Arya's storyline is slowing down something dramatic happens. Bran hasn't realised his potential yet (although I'm not very interested). And don't forget ikkle Rickon!

Arya is currently my favorite character actually. I love how you get to see the world the way she sees it, like a child with a child's way of thinking. Her character development is something I can't wait to see in the future books. I agree all the Starks have big roles but it just seems like Jon is going to have one of the more world changing ones at the moment. But then again Bran with his ablities could have a major impact, just don't know what yet. If Sansa Stark can ressurect her house just by revealing herself like Littlefinger is planning then I'll take back all my hatred I have for her because I don't about everyone else but the Stark house was my favorite house ever since the beginning lol.

Rickon's going to die unless GRRM forwards the time-line because he's too young to do anything else but die. He'll warg into Shaggy Dog because his own physical self is too weak and puny, and Shaggy Dog will die, taking an axe-blow to his head while saving Bran, dragging Rickon's mind (and then body) along with him into the grave. Sad but it is known.

He may be right, HJ: I've been reading more of GRRM's short stories and there are quite a few hybrid horror tales (SF/horror and fantasy/horror) amongst them. What thesoothsayer suggests would fit in with those.

You know, it'd actually be pretty interesting if Rickon died but then he lived on inside of Shaggy. Like he was skin changed or something, his body dies and he discovers it while having a "wolf dream". Then we'd get to see the world from the point of view of a dire wolf if we ever got some Rickon POVs. He could even meet up with Nymeria and run with her, wouldn't that be interesting...?

Sapienti, not to rain on your parade, but I did't feel that Bran's wolf dreams were that great to begin with. I could not imagine reading POV after POV of third person wolf story.

"He was hungry. All his brothers and sisters had gone away, so he hunted alone. When he caught scent of the shadowcat, he howled, then marked his territory. He knew the cat was upwind and the stag was downwind. He needed to know the location of both. He wished his brothers and sisters were here to hunt with him."
