granfalloon - a group of people who outwardly choose or claim to have a shared identity or purpose, but whose mutual association is actually meaningless :p

gimp - disability of walking due to crippling of the legs or feet

Also:
gimp a flat trimming of silk, wool, or other cord

(Sorry, I worked too long in a fabric store to let that one pass.)

I'm only in favor of doing this in alphabetical order if we don't fall prey to an urge to start stretching things with words we've just come across in a dictionary and never actually used.

haruspices (plural of haruspex, but I've never seen the singular used) a class of minor priests who practiced divination, especially from the entrails of animals killed in sacrifice

Carrying on the alphabetic theme (;)):

Cornucopia n. Goat's horn represented as overflowing with flowers, fruit, and corn; Horn of Plenty; overflowing store; also, in SF, a machine able to produce goods at will. (Note: it is not to be used to describe a very mild version of wheat intollerance.)

Carrying on the alphabetic theme :)confused:)
Hilarious - Marked by or causing boisterous merriment or laughter; Extremely funny. :)D)

Granfalloon - a group of people who outwardly choose or claim to have a shared identity or purpose, but whose mutual association is actually meaningless.

*Ostentatious –adjective
1. Characterized by or given to pretentious or conspicuous show in an attempt to impress others: an ostentatious dresser.
2. (of actions, manner, qualities exhibited, etc.) intended to attract notice.

Couple more bugbears ...

To:

wrest (not rest) - to take away by force, as in "I wrested the poor bird from my cat's mouth."
moot (not mute) - of little or no practical value, as in "it's a moot point."
wont (not want) - habit or practice, as in "we sang songs, as we were wont to do."
toe (not tow) - (v) to touch with a toe, as in "in the end, I toed the line."
please add:

Pique, not peek - a transient feeling of wounded vanity, as in "he departed in a fit of pique", but is it not also in "it piqued his interest somewhat"?

Reign, not rain (nor even rein, though it's an interesting option :)) - as in "Reign of terror".

Inimitable - incapable of verisimilitude.

Verisimilitude - imperfect replication

Actually, that makes me wrong about the definition of Inimitable. Try "Unimitateable" instead :D
