THE GATHERING STORM: Initial Thoughts (caution!!! May be SPOILERS!)

Almost a year later and I finally have my copy! HOORAY!

From what I have read so far, the action is tighter and more fast moving than the previous two volumes.

Has anyone wondered if perhaps the fact that Jordan was ill that made the series get stuck a bit?

I'm sure the illness reflected on the story in some fashion, but the action had been slowing down considerably for the last five or so novels that Jordan wrote. I found that a lot of the later books plodded along until the endings where he would usually pick them up again. The Gathering Storm was more fulfilling to me than any of those.

I think he mainly got a little lost on the way.

So I finally read this having had mixed feelings; in fact I almost decided not to read the last three books.

Loved it, back on track and Sanderson has done a great job in an unenviable situation. reminded me why I loved those first few books and gave me back my respect for Egwene.

Verin - **** me sideways, did not see that coming at all, in fact I'd forgotten Verin even existed. Oh well.

Well I just got my hands on this book and I have to say, 70 pages in, that Brandon Sanderson was a very good choice to finish this series. Anyway I will post more of my thoughts once I read a bit more but so far it is a very good read.
