That's very interesting FE. I have not heard of Aickman before, but what you said makes me want to learn more.

My comparing him to Aickman may be quite a stretch so I wouldn't read too much into that...

However, I would most definitely recommend reading some Aickman, here is a thread on the man: Robert Aickman, thoughts?.

I've long been intrigued by a number of Priest's books, but have never thus far picked one up. Reading the comments in this thread he seems like he'd be right up my alley. Am I right in saying that he shares a lot with the magical realists? That's the impression I'm getting.

I remember the local literary festival ran one event on "magical realism" when the term was in regular use. The two examples/speakers were Chris Priest and Angela Carter.
Another writer claimed that Chris lifted a lot of his ideas from H G Wells. At the time "The Glamour" had just come out which does, kind of, take the idea from "The Invisible Man" but I couldn't continue the comparison with anything since.
As I understand it, all of CPs novels since "The Affirmation" have been two word titles beginning with "The".
