Eastercon 2010 - London

Will be there tomorrow evening at the latest with Morpheus. We're staying at the Radisson and I think we're having dinner at the hotel. See you all there. My badge name is Feline and Morpheus is BFG.

See you there, Nesa. I too will be dining at the Radisson tomorrow. Toby, see you either in the bar or the dealers room!

Heh, will be there tomorrow. For tea. See you all there.

Still waits hopefully for translocator to beam him over to Eastercon...;)

I'll be there in spirit if not in the flesh...:)

Have fun all!!

Well, they did there damndest to stop me ('Erm, Jim, we can't get cover for friday so I'm afraid you'll have to come to work' 'Ha, ha, oh but you signed this form, boss. BYE!'), but come hell or high train strike I will be there.

See you at the buffet, my brethren!

Sadly not for Mrs Tien and myself this year.

We looked just before Christmas but as all you early worm catchers know most of the hotels near the event were either full or too expensive.

There in spirit.

Maybe - We should issue Chronies with web cams for live feeds of the event.

Er... Maybe not

I wish my VL Spitfire was a real life one, then I'd be joining you all :)

Have a wonderful time everyone!

Is anyone thinking of making a Chrons Meeting Point???

I'll be in London that weekend and if I get a chance I'd love to try and get to it.

Hi All,

I will be at Eastercon this year - Odyssey 2010 at the Radisson Edwardian Heathrow. If you're going to be there, do come and say Hi, always great to meet people from the forum.

Open Autograph Session. 12pm-1pm. Hotel Lobby.

The Occult in Modern Urban Fantasy. 6pm-7pm. Room 12.

London as an SF/F Setting for Books, Comics and TV. 7pm-8pm. Room 12.

We're up against Dr W on Saturday, so come and support us - but set your DVR too :)

See you there!

Mike

Sadly I won't be there this year, but if you're going, do drop by and say hello to my good friends Steve and Kerry who will have a stand in the Dealer's Room. They are from The Games Vault and will be selling loads of SFF games - the usual Warhammer, yes, but also a whole host of stuff you might not have come across before. :)

Have fun.

I certainly will Mark - I've been known to assemble the odd steampunk space marine.

Turns out I can't make it now. Travel plans fell through in the most dramatic way. Have fun, guys. I'll be thinking of you :)

Maybe one of these years I'll get to hop across the pond for this....

In the meanwhile, hope all who are lucky enough to attend have/are having a blast!

And back!
With distinct lack of money left, a hangover, a bag that weights far to much and lots of good memories.

Met up with the usual suspects (waves at Nesacat, Morpheus42 and Ian Whates) as well as alot of the people I've been twittering with for the last year or so. Also met Tobytwo (waves again) and probably missed anyone else who went.

Lots of good panels to attend. Far to many that I wanted to go to but couldn't because they clashed with others, a good thing really, wouldn't have had time to drink and eat otherwise.
Was stunned when I got home to discover I still weighed the same amount as I did when I left home.

Had a fabulous time at Eastercon, despite being restricted to the dealers' room for much of it... and spending too much time in the bar when I wasn't. Thanks to all I met there (again and for the first time).

Most surreal moment? Chuckling at the bar over memories of NewCon 4 and what a blast that was, only to have the gentleman I was nattering with offer to help carry the drinks I'd just bought back to the table. Quite strange to have him then walk behind me merrily intoning, "I am your servant." Thanks to Iain (Banks) for the extra pair of hands!

For those on face book, I've put up a load of photos here:

Ian, I really need to get a facebook account set up. Maybe daughter will help before she returns north.

Had a great time met new people and caught up with old.

It was a big hat, Toby!

Had a blast. Sorry to all the Chron-ics I never said Hello to; the name tags were so small and their owners fast and numerous. And yes- my eyes were blurry a good deal of the time.

Watching Doctor Who with near a thousand others (try finding a sofa big enough for all that lot!) was a transcendent experience. Must be how all those strange people feel who go to footie matches. I waved to Mr Whates sometime after and he was giggling with glee.

Oddest experience must be having Iain Banks and Ken Macleod do a twin Dalek impression right in my face. Still wondering whether I dreamed that one...

TobyTwo, thanks for nattering with me in the atrium on Saturday night. The plot for the fantasy epic you've written sounds truly compelling, lots of plotting and skullduggery and moral quandary. Just the ways we all likes it!

My brother picked me up on Tuesday morning. He'd trained his family to say 'Nanu Nanu' and do the Vulcan hand signal for when I entered his house. Last time I mention where I've been to anyone.

Birmingham in 2011? I'm there.

I'm of to Birmingham in 2011, and risking life and limb (or possibly just static shocks) back in London in 2012. Booked up both over the con weekend.
