re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- April, May, & June

I have to (and hate to) agree with you, HJ.

I do love Wyb's story, though. I need to do a reread of all of them when the entries close and the polls open, but it would definitely be near the top of my short list...

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- April, May, & June

It's very subjective, HJ. I can't throw stones - mine could as easily be historical rather than fantasy.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- April, May, & June

After all my posturing I realise I may have just broken my own preference that stories should be in genre.

If you hadn't mentioned your doubts as to its genre, I would have immediately assumed your story was SF; in particular, someone's rather persuasive argument against a proposal to terraform Mars.

In fact, I still think it's SF.

(As it happens, Werthead has just reviewed Red Mars**, rating it ****½.)

Well yes, that's what I originally intended the SF link to be! Terraforming! And I'm not just saying that!

In future, I think I just won't say anything about anything.

Thanks Ursa :p

You're welcome.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- April, May, & June

And looks like we've hit our beloved 42-entry mark again! We're nothing if not consistent...

By the way, can someone change the title of this thread? It long since ceased to be relevant.

(Or rather, our posts have ceased to be relevant to the OT.)

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

Joke,

That was one dark story! Pessimism oozed from the pores of that story like it was lanced boil; but clearly memorable.

{shiver}

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

For anyone who's been meaning to write a story this month and hasn't ... there are a little less than 7 hours left.

Although 42 is a nice number. We seem to be fond of it.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

It is, of course the ultimate answer.

But don't knock that regularity; I was expecting a first burst of enthusiasm, dwindling to a small hard core group of regulars. Well, it appears that about forty is the 'small hard core'; you seem to have touched on a deep, abiding need (racial subchronscious?).

Perhaps during the (majority) summer vacation months voting will get a little easier.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

Voting for June's challenge is now open!

The rules for the voting are as follows:

Any member of the Chrons may cast a vote,
even if they did not enter a story for the challenge

Please do not vote for yourself
You may only cast one vote
The poll will end at 11:59 pm on Monday, June 28th 2010 (GMT)

The winner will decide the challenge theme for July!

Good Luck Everyone!!!

The Stories

Vote!

Oops, you've forgotten the two days we reserved at the end of the month in case we needed them for a tie-breaker vote. I've edited both of your posts to avoid confusion later. Can you fix the poll itself so that it ends on time?

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

It is astonishing to me that we had 42 stories three months in a row. If it had been exactly the same writers entering each month, that would be less surprising, but although it was largely the same people writing stories each time, there have always been a few who either dropped out or dropped in.

Anyway, good stories everyone. They seem to get better and better each month.

Of course! Thanks for the reminder. Will do.

I'm personally having a hard time with this one. The last two months I had clear-cut winners picked fairly easily, but this time I have at least four vying for the win,
