That would be unfair, Bella Donna, as Mouse is also known (by some, and in some threads), as The Mo.

Hasn't she a big enough advantage already**?

;):)

** - Because her entries are of a challenge-winning standard.

Although now I guess I don't have to try to figure out what was hidden in yours. (Which I thought very powerful, even without a hidden meaning.)

Parson goes all weak in the knees at such a compliment! Thank you!

I see you are on line. Everything go right with the mini Mac?

Xelah -- I loved the story. It put me in mind of a couple of things. The great quote that goes something like "Sufficiently far advanced technology will look like magic to those who do not possess it." And how gullible and obtuse the human race can actually be.

It's actually something I've had in mind for some time. I remember first getting the idea years ago after reading this:

Airline sacrifices goats to appease sky god | Reuters

I don't mean to take jabs at anyone's faith, but I can't help but wonder what the mechanics thought the goats would do for their 757.

He'll be setting up the Mini in a little while. It's still early here on the West Coast. There shouldn't be any trouble transferring our files. It's setting up the email and all the internet stuff that worries me, because there have been troubles*with that sort of thing when we changed computers before.

As for going weak in the knees, Parson, this isn't the first time I've loved one of your stories. For instance, your story for "Escape" was on my short list. I still remember that story quite clearly, which, considering how weary my brain is at the moment, is saying quite a bit.

A grandchild interrupted me while I was replying to Parson, and I lost my train of thought. Thank you, Allanon; that's a lovely compliment.

I can't slap Mouse because after reading through so many messages I don't remember what it was she did to deserve it. (Aside from wanting to pickle Ben Barnes ... but wait, that was in another thread.)

Mwah ha ha ha ha! I get off scot free!

(mmm... pickle...)

 I think my entries have gotten progressively worse over time though. My first one was my best. The rest... not so much.

It doesn't help that I like her entry!

Ta!

I think the period for getting off scot free has just ended, what with the "progressively worse" comment....

*consults books as to Statute of Limitations for Self-Denigration*

Nope. Nothing. Punishment can therefore be delivered at any time.

On the other hand, deliberate delay on the part of the prosecution, natural justice, reasonable expectation of speedy trial... The quality of mercy is not strained in this court, so in the case of the original offence, the Defendant Mouse is merely admonished.

With the other hand...

*restrains self in the case of the current offence*

Owwy!

I know Parson's actually said in this thread what his hidden thing was, but I've only just spotted it! The Ts perplexed me.

Mouse,

I think your new avatar is too cute to slap.

I'm glad you're reading my story/poem. I was actually quite happy with it until the mistake rose up to dash my self esteem.

My only excuse is that I have my word processor set to automatically correct sacrafice* to sacrifice, and when you are typing an acrostic you don't get those little red squiggles to say: "Ermm! what are you trying to say, anyway?!"

*(which is how before this week I ordinarily spelled it without thinking, this embarrassment has probably fixed that spelling for good. The only good I can see to come out of this. Unless I needed another bash on the head to deal with my tendency toward pride.)

Oh, you mean the one that she won with, while her stories were growing "progressively worse"?

I think that was her best, although her first two were little gems.

And Mouse, if nixie hadn't administered the slap first, you would be in so much trouble.

With the exception of Mouse and Karn, I think you've all been so good this year, Santa and his elves really should be generous.

Oh, no. It's only Karn who refers to me as "Santa".

Whatever I'm supposed to be giving away, I've not got time, all right?

Maybe we'll have to refer the matter to Father Christmas or Kris* Kringle then.

*No relation of yours, of course.
