Discussing the Writing Challenges -- November and December 2010

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

All right, the other one stubbornly refuses to go below a hundred words and stay SFF. And it's too much the same theme as the one above it. And the poem is awful. So I'll see if this one will suffice; it should pass the Mouse test, at least.

And hooves, tail and tusks? Must be a wild boar. Or, given the ballroom setting, a wild bore – far more scary.

*discovers everyone else has already forgotten the discussion he was referring to.*

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

Chris, I like that! And a sound moral to it as well -- one should always be suspicious of cute.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

The sheer drudgery I perform around here, and all I get is complaints.

All right, we love you. We all love you, you know that; do we have to say it all the time and send you flowers?

I suppose that's not too bad an idea, really; I don't seem to have any cut flowers on hand, I'll just have to cut some…

Bother, it didn't attach.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

Ah, that was strange.

And whilst we're all here, does anyone mind if I link to another thread people might like? You're given a film title, and from that you write a synopsis (then give a new film title).

It does! I always knew kittens were evil. ;)

And pretty bleeding heart flowers!!

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

I think that should give people plenty to do after they've finished their 75 word stories.

Oooh, thanks! I'll have to check those out when I get home tonight!

Of course, I should probably make myself actually write the 75-word story first, or I might never get around to it....

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

Aw, evil kittehs. I would adopt them and be damned.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

Of course they are; anyone who's ever been owned by a kitten (and many whose sole experience was an adult cat) know that any random specimen taken from a litter contains as much original sin as a primary school in Bolton.

Unfortunately (for humans) it also has as mach charm as the cast of a Hollywood blockbuster – instant doom.

If that litter could coöperate on anything they could probably drive Lucifer to abdicate in an afternoon, and repent in a week, but the goddess Freyja, whose chariot was drawn by cats (not even kittens) will testify that the risk of them agreeing on anything that long is negligible.

And pretty bleeding heart flowers!!

Don't you think Teresa deserves to be appreciated from time to time? She is doing a superb job. Not too often appreciated, obviously; we wouldn't want her thinking she could relax.

Actually, I think all of you moderators are doing a superb job and you should all be thanked and appreciated.

Teresa's doing a huuuuge job here in Workshop, though, constantly, and for that she DEFINITELY gets my praise and thanks.

And congrats to HareBrain on the win!

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

Bleeding hearts and bluebells -- very, very pretty. Thank you so much, chris.

And thank you chris and Leisha, both, for the kind words.

Of course Culhwch does the real work with the Challenge putting together the polls. ( However, I'll keep the flowers. )

For a moment there, I read that as Worksop and wondered if a further investigations were in progress on the subject of fast food in contemporary England outside the big conurbations.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- June & July

Just a note to say I've moved the above post out of the writing challenge thread and a reminder that thread is for stories only.

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Unlike the first month, when we didn't have a thread like this one, where we can mention our favorites and cheer everyone on.

Which reminds me: Excellent entries so far. HareBrain is showing his versatility with something completely different. (Although I note the grim humor in one of the lines.)

I'm still working on mine. I'm always afraid that if I wait too long someone will come up with something along the same lines first. On the other hand, if I rush it, someone will use a similar idea only better.

But until last night I was editing somebody else's work. July is reserved for embracing my own creativity (although that's to be mainly concentrated on a certain book).

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Ok, for the first time I wrote two stories and had to decide which one to post. And it's only the third day of the month! Now I shall feel free to wade into the lovely activities that Teresa dug up for us to fill the void. :)

re: Discussing the Writing Challenges -- July & August

Argh! I'm another one who's written a couple of entries (three, to be precise). I've settled on one, finally.

Shall post it now...

And... I have a favourite already in the challenge. We'll see if someone beats it.
