So what is your August majesty reading?

I started reading "THE PLAYER OF GAMES" by Iain M. Banks
Just finished reading the Night Dawn's Trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton though.

I've just started Stephen Erikson's Gardens of the Moon, after giving up work, telling my friends I'm overseas for six months and stocking the house with cheesy comestibles.

If "culinary tastes" means "which packet you prefer sticking your hand into" then the former.

The prose is well above average, surprising considering how often he produces one of these monsters.

Once again, I'm giving up on Twain. I managed to get to Chapter 30 or thereabouts. I just can't stand it any longer. I'm going so far as to forcibly eject it from my collection so I never put myself through this torture ever again.

That bad eh! I've always fancied trying Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. How you felt about this book is kind of how I felt about Moby Dick.

I love Murder must Advertise. Her real-life experience in advertising is so apparent in all of it -- and the effortless prose is wonderful. I think the cricket match is my favourite part of the book, but there's not a duff scene anywhere.

Well my next book is The Cry of the Marwing by K.S. Nikakis.

It's on my table waiting for me to pick it up and start reading!

This is Book Three of The Kira Chronicles and the concluding one.

After finally finishing Use of Weapons (Iain M. Banks) last night, I can move on to the latest Hobb - Dragon something-or-other. I forget the name.

From a Frederick Forsyth spy novel to Dark Prince by David Gemmell. I missed reading DG.

Finished City and the City by Mievelle, I quite enjoyed it, although the whole 'dual city' thing didn't always work for me.

Have also just finished Empire of Light by Gary Gibson - the 3rd book in the Shoal sequence trilogy. Personally I thought it was too rushed, the technology tree was all over the place and it was a disappointment. Overall the trilogy will receive 6.5 / 10 from me :)

Have just started Shadow and Betrayal by Danial Abrahams, first book of the quartet. Initial impressions are good - looks like i'm in for a long read as it looks like quite a hefty word count on this.
