I thought I'd actually translated it into Hungarian and back again. The more I look at it now, the more I'm amazed. Dammit, you should have posted that one.

I have to admit that if you had posted a story all in numbers I wouldn't have even known where to go to get it translated, and it's highly unlikely I would even go to the trouble of finding out.

But it's a wonderful story, and if you had posted it in a readable form, it would have been a contender for my vote.

Crispy- I had seen rider-less horses "dancing " before. Guess I just assumed they were trained to do so. Not thought they were just overcome by urge to move to the beat.

You would not want to, TE. It is highly tedious translating binary into words because it would have to be translated letter by letter-I wouldn't even attempt to write out a seventy-five word story in binary.

I could have attempted when I was in college, but, I've forgotten it now.

Many thanks for all the comments on the Chaucer story. It's really quite a surprise.

The words and letter translation is Hexadecimal - I did think about translating it into binary but it would have been huge!

As to the actual task of translation, I would love to decry my own genius, but I might have been able to do it once upon a time, but in this day and age you can find a translation program for just about anything on the internet!

When I started writing it (in English) it was done more for a joke - but I was rather pleased with it, but decided not to post it for two reasons. Firstly it was not finished, there was a lot more to the prologue than those few lines, and secondly I felt it would not be my work. I was just translating Chaucer...

For my English lit. O level (please don't ask what an illiterate scientist was doing taking English literature; it's complicated and irrational) I had Shakespeare's 'Macbeth', a second world war thing about fishing boats going between Scotland and Norway… and Chaucer's prologue. So, considering Marvin as plodding and pedestrian as Geoffrey, attempted to fit his view of the universe into that format (at one point in archaic vocabulary, but that was a bit much even for me).
I hate rhyming couplets as a basic form.
