What's going on here?!

Is it just me or does it seem like Martin is losing the plot?

Having almost no magic in the series and then all of a sudden Catelyn Stark pops up briefly after returning from the dead and then not mentioned again....I think George is just randomly making things up and forgetting them.

Are you a troll, a simpleton or did you just skip from like the first to the fourth book?

Just to clear this up, there is loads of magic in ASOIAF.
In AGOT: The Others, beginnings of Bran's warging, Bran and Rickon's dream that their father was dead which turned out to be correct, the prophesy of the crones in Vaes Dothrak, the Maegi bringing Drogo back to life and of course Dany's dragons.
In ACOK: Patchface's prophecies, Melisandre's flames, the prophecies of the undying of Qarth, the deaths of Renly and Cortnay Penrose, Jaqen H'ghar's assassinations.
In ASOS: Thoros Of Myr's kiss of life thingy, melisandre's flames, that old woman who does the prophecies for the brotherhood without banners, Oberyn's 'thickened' poison, and of course, Catelyn's revival.
In AFFC: Pate's death, obsidian candle relighting.

Troller is looking for a response...ANY response, and he will chum the waters with complaints, insults, compliments, and inflammatory tidbits hoping that someone...ANYONE, will take the bait. Generally quite harmless - practices a form of catch and release. Nonetheless, he can upset the delicate ecology of a discussion forum. Once a forum becomes aware of his presence, however, all feeding activity ceases and Troller must move on to more promising waters.

To be fair, having a couple of dreams is different to someone coming back from the dead and then no explanation given.

The point is that its a loose end and Georgie doesn't seem to be following it up.

It seems he's doing a great job of being a mental stress relief.
Viciousness abounds...

I don't think he's trolling, guys. I don't agree with him,
but I don't think he's trolling.

Lady Stark was not the first character to return from the dead.

from the very first chapter of the entire series there was magic. the whitewalkers...did you think they were just really skinny, insanely tough and angry men who'd been out in the cold too long? I've been hoping the whole time that Ned somehow comes back lol. That won't be happening though, he's more important dead than alive to the overall story.

C of K, i originally thought so as well until i looked at another one of his posts, and this appears to be his theme:

Had he made this comment on an existing thread, instead of creating a new thread, i would have chalked it up as a misinformed poster. Maybe he had a genuine question, or may be he's just an Angrybushpig ;)

I see a difficult person to please, more than I see a troll.
Give him a little time and he may actually post about
something he likes, instead of seeming like an
Angrybushpig all the time.:)

Besides, if he really can't stand ASOIAF, it isn't
likely that he will post in this forum very often.
If he is trolling, it will manifest itself soon enough.

I'm not a difficult person to please, really just having fun with the whole trolling thing. However, i think you do have "Sunset Colored Eyes" as the tagline under your name suggests. :D

With that being said, i have been on both sides of the fence depending on the specific conversation in relation to my likes and dislikes of ASOIAF, as have we all. I think as long as someone shows a genuine interest or genuine criticism about the series everyone here has been nothing but genuine and respective of said posts.

But i will stand by my original feeling on this particular thread:

I didn't mean you were difficult to please, xLSx.
I meant the Angrybushpig was difficult to please.
From the posts you've shown me, he doesn't seem to have
much positive to say about the books he's read. But give him
some time. He may surprise us.

I too have been on both sides of that fence.
It's only natural.

Oops, I see now i did misread that. My appologies.... You see, i'm a prime example of not fully understanding and/or taking the time to give people the benefit of the doubt.

So, according to your theory, other evidence of GRRM "losing the plot" would be no mention of The Tower of Joy since AGOT, no sign of Nymeria since AGOT (other than oblique references here and there to a giant wolf leading a pack, no mention of the Horn of Joramun and the fact that it's likely that Sam possesses it, no sign of Uncle Ben (maybe he's growing rice somewhere), nothing done with the enigmatic Quaithe character, other than a brief appearance here and there.

/sarcasm off

I don't know how old you are. I suspect you're on the young side, ans you're getting a little anxious about having to go back to school next week, but assuming i'm right i'll say this. One of your wishes should be that you one day reach the intellectual development and prowess of GRRM, and further, wish that you are able to maintain it when you hit 62. If your post is any indication of what is to come, though, those wishes won't come true.

There's also a much simpler response. If you don't like the direction (or lack thereof) that GRRM is taking the series, stop reading it

Well said, Imp.

...it's kind of you to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I just have to wonder....if someone has nothing positive to say about a book they've read (or not read, as this thread would indicate) then why would one bother to seek out an internet community full of fans to express their displeasure, unless one were trolling? Whenever I read something I don't like, I simply don't waste my time talking about it. I move on and read something else.

Catelyn is (I think) the third person to be brought back from the dead, after Drogo and Beric (who has was brought back 6 times). In fact you could also include the three dead dragon eggs in that and maybe even the countless numbers of wights also. As for the explanation - it is explained. Beric gives her the kiss of flames thingy which takes the life out of him in turn (presumably because she is a full three days dead and he has been weakened by all the times he died) but brings her back to life. It is noted that this kiss of life has only begun working recently and as it is fire based we can only assume that it is because of Dany's dragons.

I understand what you're saying. But he doesn't have near 100 post like you do. He may yet say somthing positive. As I said before. If he really is a troll, it will manifest itself beyond a shadow of a doubt long before he gets to 100. I don't like trolls, but it's always best not to play their game. If members spend whole threads calling trolls trolls, it just gives them what they want. Believe me, when the truth comes out, the appropriate action will be taken by the appropriate people. In the mean time, we could do our best to make a new member feel welcome, whether they like ASOIAF or not.
