Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

You could be thinking about it this very minute.

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

Actually, tea's cooking. The smell of chips is affecting my brain. I can only think of chips.

Mmmm. Chips...

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

But once the chips are down, I'm sure you'll rise to the challenge. ;):)

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

could write it about tattie pickers who are behind the scenes of the whole chip operation ?

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

I'm not gonna make it. The months are moving too quickly these days. I'm still back in mid-summer, I think.

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

Thanks Perp, for the usual excellent analysis/comments. I doubt I'll garner support from Parson, then but then, he did write a mean horror story, himself...!

MOUSE!!! Come on, there's a whole day left - wouldn't be the same without you....x

Actually "Bone" man, yours is on my preliminary list of "those who are definite contenders." And I'm not sure how I should understand "mean horror story." mean=average? mean=nasty? mean=good? Actually I do think I understand and I thank you. :)

Mouse: I for one did notice your lack of entry last month and I thought it was your way to slip out the back door without mentioning to people that you have lots of paid writing to do.

Perpetual Man: Thanks for the kind review. I would say that the Christian God cannot be seen as in any way "tame" or "docile." We Christians generally have a worrisome view of Hell and who arrives there; to say nothing of the day of judgment.

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

I have two ideas but with a huge blow up with the wife, commitments involving the children and school I am not sure I will have a chance to jot anything down let alone polish and submit in the remaining time. :(

Of course I could just quickly post some doggerel about wives being behind man never finishing that which he wishes to achieve in either the scifi or fantasy mode. . .

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

Aw, thanks. I don't think anybody noticed the last time I missed one though. I've not had time to think about it this month, really!

Of course I noticed; it made a hole in my chart where I wasn't anticipating one;). And horror, too!

But these are just lists, not an attempt to bully anyone (I'll save that for the voting). And even there Hex needed taking off the list almost before I'd posted it.

Hey, I entered last month! No, I don't remember my story either.;)

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

Howdy,
Hey all you non-entrants---------what kind of example are you setting for all the new guys? You have an obligation, you know. Why if no-one entered, I would be talking to myself again, and every time I do that Renate hits me alongside the head. My head hurts----please help.

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

I'm going to have to pass. I'm not in the mood for writing at the moment. Too much going on in my life unfortunately.

Sorry to let you guys down, I will be back though:)

'Mean', as in 'good'. That was a mean hand of poker he played to win the jackpot - almost cunning crossed with resilient and clever. Wasn't sure pre-existence would gel with you! Thank you for making me a contender - always makes me think of Marlon Brando... which is no bad comparison...:)

And won't be the same without you, either Gary! And you're not letting us down in the slightest, real life always comes first. (Besides, one less good story to go up against!)

:eek: You did enter last month! It was July that you did not enter. Months fly by when you are in your sixth decade. But only the last four decades has dementia been playing around the edges.

Cheers mate:)

Aye your right you will have more chance of winning without me.

In fact, I'll bare me...

Oops nearly fell back into me old ways there.

Good luck old chap - onwards and upwards as they say at Blyth's Gentleman's Club. (Blyth & District Social Club & Workmen's Institute really.)

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

Hey Gary, (and others)
No need to feel bad, I was just messing with you (boredom I guess). What one does for fun should not come before what has to be done. (with a few exceptions)
I was going to post something about the Dusty One's story, but had to back out at the last second.
Had I done my homework--------I coulda been somebody, I coulda been a contender

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

Okay, I posted.

Not even anything remotely good, but if it helps the old man from getting beat about the head, it's worth it. (He's funny enough looking as it is, without all those lumps on the side of his head...)

Was it likely to make ME want to beat you about the head with anything? :D

Re: Discussion September 2011 Writing Challenge

This month it appears I will not be voting.

Later today I'm leaving for a two-week trek through Ireland.
Should be a wonderful time, but I don't plan on having much access to the internet.

So my apologies for not voting, and my congratulations in advance to the winner!
