There are a couple of sites running "best of" iPhone auto corrected messages. The auto correct technology is great for fixing all the mis-typed keys that you get with the tiny onscreen keyboard with the iPhone/iPad, but it's very frustrating. For instance I had a son born in January that we named Ares... which has been auto-corrected so many times to Area that me and my wife just refer to him as Area in all text messages now.

I was also thinking about that...and of the expensive talent fees of the Faceless Men. I know I'm kinda lame (because its the day in the week that I'm sober) in proposing that its more of a Euron than Aerion (was it his real name?) . It would be too much coincidence that Crow's Eye got to arrive after Balon's death. It was there I think that the two had a fallout that lead to Euron being exiled. Then Euron went to the Old Valyria and to the other countries and given his rep, pirating....thus, he can afford to pay for the service charge billed by the FM. I don't think that the fanatic Damphair has the knack to count coppers because he seemed pretty busy drowning more people everyday.

Huge necro alert and my deepest apologies for that, but I didn't want to start an entirely new thread for what is basically just a small observation. I personally think Euron has already told Victarion that it was him who killed Balon -- granted he didn't say it outright but he did say he "threw his dragon egg into the sea". I think that was his tongue-in-cheek way of saying that he had paid the FM with his dragon egg for the deed. FM require huge payments for their services, a dragon egg is worth an untold fortune, Balon "fell" into the sea, and bragging about it like that fits so well with Euron's character.

A very nice observation and it does fit with Euron's character...

Though, just getting angry and throwing a dragon egg into the sea also seems to fit his character... The man is Crazy.

Some speculate a connection between Varys/Illyrio and the FM possibly the owners. Euron goes to Valyria and finds eggs. Goes to Braavos and pays the FM with eggs to assissnate Balon. Illyrio gets the eggs from the FM and gives them to Dany...

The time between Illyrio's gift of the eggs and Balon's death is at least two years... mayhaps closer to three. Are you saying it took that long to make the attempt? I guess it could if the assassin spent time imprisoned and then impressed into military service and then bound to serve a little girl...

Here's the part that's always been the toughest for me to believe regarding a FM killing Balon... How did Euron know to show up the very next day? I cannot imagine that a FM would be in constant contact with a client. The client pays and sometime later the death happens... this is one way to insure the client's deniability of involvement. But when Balon dies and Euron show up the next day (after being gone for five years or more), the inescapable conclusion is that Euron knew Balon was going to die... and if he knew, then he must have arranged it.

Two years for a FM attempt on Balon? Euron does not seem that patient, in my opinion.

And this also means Euron was moving against Balon while Robert was still alive and the realm was at peace. That sounds a bit risky to me. A safer scenario involves Euron waiting until Robert is dead, the realm is in turmoil, and the Ironborn are fighting elsewhere... i.e. the exact same plan Balon used to attack the North.
