Congratulations, digs! :):)

And Commiserations to HareBrain, who came so close. :)

I have to admit I'm feeling a perverse delight in the confusion my story seems to have caused. It's always hard to tell whether what's in your head is matched by what's on the page. At the same time I'm not a big fan of the author dispelling all the mysteries of the story...so I'll never teeeelll! Though I will say that there's a very tenuous link between this story and my previous winner.

Thanks for the votes everyone, and well done to HB. There were a few times when I thought you'd clinched it!

Congrates and commiserations seems well said, so I'll repeat it here.
So close and I don't just mean the number of votes!

Congrats Digs.

Parson, I hope you get some MUCH NEEDED rest soon.

I wanted to send commisserationsifys to HB but couldn't spell it, good job HB.

Hope we get back to easy stuff for May, like Gunga Din or clowns in space.

Karn, I have a list......

Going to bed now!

Congratulations Digs. I'm still confused, but I will take everyone's word for it that it was a masterpiece.

Congratulations, digs, and commisser-whatever-Bob-said to HareBrain.

I thought digs' story was reasonably clear, in the way that Teresa said, and it definitely reminded me of his other win, although I'm not sure exactly why, but I felt there was more of a solid story to HB's. Good stories all around, though, and a fine win!

I can't remember (and had better not go back to look or I'll be poking around in the past all night) what digs picked last time, so I'm not sure what we have to look forward to this time!

Wow, that was intense.

Congratulations to digs, and thanks to everyone who voted for mine and made the tie-break so exciting (and exhausting). Was it the closest ever?

I had a feeling from the start that digs's story would win, though, and it seems right to me that a tale of human warmth and redemption should triumph over one of unmitigated horribleness.

(I actually feel kind of guilty that my story scared people.)

Congratulations to digs, a hard fought battle right to the end. A big mention to HB as well for such a hard fight battle and an excellent story.

Congratulations to digs for your win, but also to HareBrain for such a close contest. Both excellent stories.

Congratulations, Digs. :)

And a big well done to HareBrain too - such a close contest.

Congratulations, digs! I loved your story (and I think I understood it too -- anyway, what I understood made me feel cold and warm and tearful each time I read it).

HareBrain -- commiserations on not winning (but I'm quite glad that story didn't. *shudder*)
(glad you feel guilty)

Congratulations to both of you, but with tiny commiserations to HareBrain. (A man who's had 3 wins already doesn't need too much sympathy...)
