I was going to try and come up with a story without violence but this genre is making it a bit harder, I've got some idea floating around....

LILMIZFLASHYTHANG: I read this two ways. Saving the one you love from the horrors ahead, and saving the rest of the family from exposure. I loved that the kids were taken out before the horror - the little detail that made the poignancy even more vivid.

At least somebody got it. Here I was thinking everyone was sure I needed locked up for sanity purposes (or for murder)

You are my new hero, glad that you liked the story. Thank you VERY much. The people in my story are very much like real people that I have met , and I never judge them, I just enjoy talking to them. If you don't waste your time laughing at the way they talk you will find that they are much more interesting than the people you Tweet. I can sit down and talk with the Amish folks for hours, I don't know how they do it but they can hold their own talking about anything. If people today didn't waste all their time texting and tweeting they might be able to actually talk to one another in a civil manner.
OOPS---Sorry, I got carried away, thanks again for the kind words and I am sure Perp Man is proud of the work you are doing.

I'm just amazed that the people doing commentary can do it. I don't come close enough to understanding all the stories to even think about doing a comprehensive commentary!

I would end up with egg all over my face for my interpretations of some of them.

Some really fantastic entries again this month, Perp's in particulur stuck out as an excellent example of how to say a lot with very few words.

Will try and re-read the entires this month, would ate to suffer awesomenes burnout again.

I'm checking in, probably not as much as I would normally but keeping an eye on what is going on and am so impressed by what our three comment makers are doing. It's superb - and great to see it coming from a different angle. Especially as I made things incredibly hard for them this month!

Bob - I'd say they are doing more than making me proud, they're surpassing me!!

TDZ - I'm pretty sure that I've ended up with egg on mine far too many times to count - everyone else is just too polite to point it out.

Thanks for the commentary Springs and Karn. It's always appreciated, and as I've said before, is actually something that I believe people look forward to every month. I know I do for sure, and keeps me coming back (though I'd do it regardless).

This was actually a take on a post apocalyptic supernatural horror novel I started writing a couple of years back. Some tweaking here and there brought it into scope with the theme of this months challenge.

I'm having a hard time coming up with my story, despite knowing what it's going to be about. No brilliant lines have popped into my head yet. Must take more showers.

@TacticalLoco, no I have never eaten elephant or alligator. Is crocodile close enough? White meat of a consistency halfway between fish and chicken.

Yeah, That's the only on I've had as well.
I don't know if there is anywhere one can eat elephant these days, or if that was ever done at all.
Strangest thing I've eaten was lion, but lots of others strange things as well.

I ate crocodile in Australia, but it was kebab, grilled to death over an open campfire fire and eaten drunk and tired in the dark. It does kinda taste like Chicken from what I can remember, but a bit different

Apparently they are a bit too good at breeding them and releasing them into the wild, and now there are too many, so they're considering introducing hunting again

The one that surprised me was Ostrich, which tasted nothing like chicken, but rather a red gamey meaty. Also Kangaroo has a really weird flavour and is hard to cook properly

I ate marmot once as well. It was a bit bland and stringy

Back on topic, hope other people will find some unusual or imaginative apocalypses. Kind of bored of zombies and desert wastelands

I have all the bambi's in South Africa and Ostrich, and I could not tell them apart. They were all dark and gamey and not a bit like chicken - tasty - I had the lot!

I had to look up what a Marmot was, stringy is not a surprise now I know what it is!

James, zombies seem to be popular on here and I'm ok with our dead friends, votes for zombies I say. They have feelings too, their feelings might be dulled by death, but their still human(ish), they certainly seem to like us......back on food again!
