This book is making my beard go fifty shades of grey...I want off this planet. Can anyone hook me up?
Sent you a pm just in case someone doesn't want the spoiler here.
Why, I take offense, Cayal. I'm reading it. Slowly, on the toilet mainly, but I am reading it.
While I was a child we used to watch, every Thursday at 19:00, on TVR 1 - National Television -, a show called "Road report". Mainly, it was about car crashes. I'd be in front of the TV with my grandparents and watch that show, every week, with a morbid interest in how other people fudged it.
This is the same kind of morbid curiosity.
I've heard. I've not read either.
As an aside, I love Tassie.
I'll swap you states? I did live in Victoria at one time. Actually, I was over your way (Victoria) yesterday. Due to work I get to Victoria every few weeks.
I read an article a week or two ago that mentioned research had shown that only 4 in 10 people who purchase Fifty Shades read the book in its entirety. All the hype has people snapping the book up eager to sate their curiosity, but are then discovering what a dismal literary offering it is.
I don't know whether I should be buoyed (thinking of my own hopes of being published one day) or dismayed at the lack of discernment displayed by some publishers. Some of the twaddle that is making it to press leaves a lot to be desired.
I'd gladly swap, except I'd prefer to Scuba Dive in Victoria than Tassie (water would be much colder than the already freezing we get in Winter).
I'm not surprised no one reads it. It's mindless rubbish. Though some people love it, a lady on the train read all 3 books during a 3 week period so some people like it...or don't want to waste their money.
Yeah, as a wanna-be writer it gives you hope, but I don't think i'd want to publish something so horribly smutty and poorly written (though the money would help ease the guilt I guess)
Indeed, though I have heard Tassie does have some good dive sites. We have a lot of wrecks which is cool.
I've heard Northern WA is good (and warm!), I'm one day going to dive with the Whale Sharks up there but in the mean time it's off to Gold Coast, Byron and Coffs for a dive week in October with the Grey Nurse Sharks.
You could be a middle ground, like Rowling, not the greatest writer out there (certainly not the worst) but made a huge difference in reading for kids and is richer than God.
A friend suggested I go shark cage diving in Cape Town during a schedule visit there next year...no thanks.
Now there is a writer to be admired; with a middle of the road talent and unoriginal ideas she was able to weave such a captivating story that she changed the reading habits of an entire generation.
I second the recommendation. I did it last year in Cape Town. It's great and you should do it. (I'd move to Cape Town over Tassie btw)
I'm going back next year and will do it again.
Cape Town must be the destination of choice for the new year.
Even taking in to account the crime rate in Cape Town, I would pick there over here. I'll have to take the opportunity to pick your brains about your experiences in Cape Town and shark cage diving some time.
It's a wonderful place. You get a lot of people asking for money but I found it safe, they have tourist police though.
Thank you kindly. Probably not by chat-jacking a thread, though. Hope I haven't monopolized too much of your time today. You are more than welcome to ask me anything.
Your own personal experience?I am pretty sure I have the diving with Great Whites on youtube.
From all I have seen it looks extremely appealing, however, having heard a few horror stories I was a bit tentative about visiting there.
Thank you kindly. Probably not by chat-jacking a thread, though.
Hope I haven't monopolized too much of your time today.
Your own personal experience?
True, but there are horror stories everywhere (Port Arthur).
I felt the same going to Zimbabwe as well and it was fine.
lol, we're the only people who've made 50 Shades enjoyable.
You can send me a PM if you'd like to know more.
You'd have to ask News Limited. lol
I'm perfectly fine posting on forums all day.
Yeah, they had a guy who had a video camera who would dunk it from the boat.
I took my own camera, it lagged a bit so most of the time I got half a shark.
Quite right. You've travelled often to Africa? The trip next year will be my first. Most of my travels have taken me to Europe, Asia, Canada and the US, oh, and across the ditch.
I knew Fifty Shades would come in handy for something other than a fire-starter.
You work for them? Now you have my sympathies.
I shan't feel guilty then.
I would be extremely appreciative if you could PM me the link to the video. I'm interested to know how scared I should be.
Since I've spent most of my work day doing nothing, I'm off to do something productive before I head home and doing nothing. Thanks for chat-jacking with me, Cayal.
