DISCUSSION THREAD -- August 75 Word Challenge

My story was already about plastic surgery (which may or may not have magical elements: this is a fairy story), which could be seen as a sort of rebirth. And as a fan of the A Song of Ice and Fire books, where there's a prophecy concerning "Azor Ahai Reborn", I simply couldn't resist. :)

Oh, I was assuming you meant the razor brand Azor - supposedly extremely sharp and effective and were thus making reference to going too far for physical perfection (from shaving beard to shaving flesh) so I'll just walk away from that nonchalantly! *whistles whilst walking quickly away*

Did I forget to mention that it was a double pun...?

* whistles innocently *

Congrats Perp! Well done.

And thank you very much for the last minute vote TJ. This was my first 75 word story to get more than 2 votes so I am more than pleased.

Starbeast - I did wonder if anyone would get the Sidhe - (well I knew there were one or two who would), but I am glad it all clicked into place when you looked it up.

I enjoy folklore from around the world, especially the roots of how they came to be. And it always poses the big question: "Did people long ago encounter strange beings?" Myself being a researcher of the paranormal, I've learned that truth is stranger then fiction, and sometimes the unknown is amazingly cool.

Congrats Perp!

Now people with hidden gems step forward and reveal yourselves

"ROBOTS and POPTARTS!"

There, I said it. :D I feel better that I got it out of my system.

Congratulations, Perp!

Now let's see, so far it's monsters, aliens, rayguns, and a shopping trolley, in the style of Kipling. Right?

MemoryTale: as voting is over I can explain the unrequited love - the dragon is in love with the knight sent out on a quest to kill a dragon to win a princess' hand in marriage...he however is in love with the princess, not the dragon; thus unrequited love on the part of the dragon...I hope that made sense! :D anyway I am very glad you enjoyed it :D

We've only got 75 words, so we can't have something that might drag on.

Congratulations, Perp!

Now let's see, so far it's monsters, aliens, rayguns, and a shopping trolley, in the style of Kipling. Right?

I was thinking exactly that TDZ, but maybe not the Kipling, huh?

(Maybe in the style of Beowulf...)

Goes and searches her Heaney collection, arises triumphant... go for it, Perp, no probs. :p

Nice one Perp, well deserved!

Thank you Boneman, Johnnyjet, Stormcrow, Teresa Edgerton, for the listings!

Now though I'm in a bit of a quandary: A while back a certain member of this group set us a challenge that floored everyone. It was in many ways the one that stretched us the most but also one of the hardest. Afterwards everyone was really pleased with themselves, while there was a good deal of good natured grumbling about never voting for that particularly denizen again.

For some reason someone else (I forget who) commentd on the terror of what would be presented to you should Perp ever win, and I decided there and then that should I ever win the challenge I would do something straightforward and simple that everyone would love...

But... I'm here and I'm thinking we have not had a real jaw clenching, fear inducing challenge for quite a while...

I shall have to have a little think...

That sounds interesting...
