Thanks, Perp. I think this one, even at half length, is simple enough for anybody. Even Mouse;).

Lilmizflashythang – For a while this story perplexed me, and I wondered if I was missing the point, but the more I read it, the cleverer it became until in the end I don’t know whether it is time for me to get down on my knees and proclaim “I am not worthy!” The cleverness in the final part of the quest, in kissing the beast of burden, and choosing his own beast, which is in fact a princess is wonderful. Was that the trick all along, he just needed to prove himself, or is there another princess waiting for the kiss to come?...

...Pleased to say that I've got three stories down at last, but can't decide which one to go with (they all need a bit of editing) I had two favourites, then read them to Mrs Perp. who chose the one I had all but rejected... sigh.

Thanks for the review Perp, but please no falling on the knees.:D It's just my fifth attempt at the 75 worder. I'm glad you liked it.

On your stories, you pick one, Mrs.Perp has hers, and flip a coin. Or just submit her choice, which ever you think is best.

Luiglin – The thing about this one is that it takes all the familiar tropes of unicorn seduction, leads you down a familiar path and then slaps you in the face with something that... well without being to risqué, makes you laugh out loud. The image will stay in my mind for a long, long time. Great story, with a spot on twist.

Back off hol's and thanks for the review Perp. Time for some catch-up.

Thanks again Perpetual Man for another delightful review. I can't imagine what you will come up with for your entry.

My pleasure everyone, but you know that.

Strangely enough I had a fourth idea, and I jotted a note or two down and ran it by Mrs P.

She thought it was genius and I was delighted until she asked her one and only question:

"What has that got to do with unrequited love though?"

Ouch! Well, take your time. I know you'll come up with something interesting, as well as within the guidelines of the contest.

Good luck my friend.

Ouch. I can relate. I ain't much of a romantic I'm afraid, you're on your own.:(

Great entry, HareBrain! :)

Thanks chaps. Writing and posting it just after getting back from the pub was a bit risky. I'm glad I seem to have got away with it!

Starbeast - you always make me laugh with your entries!

As far as genres and themes go I'll try my hand at anything. The tougher it's set the more I enjoy it tbh. The most enjoyanle, tough (and ultimately rewarding) challenge so far has been the 'in the style of Kipling.

It's quite interesting to write about something you usually don't, because the Challenge is perhaps the only time you ever will. And, do you know, you might actualy be quite good at it. Writing about, or in the style of, something you are quite comfortable or familiar with could actually be holding you back from your true potential.

Perhaps E.L.James is an avid Trek fan?

Parson comes in with a groggy brain and sleep deprived eyes. ---- "I will never wait until the 12th to begin reading about the 75 word contest." ---- He writes down on his virtual chalk board 3 score times.

:D Seriously folks, can't we get away from these fables, fantasies, folk lore, forays? I mean I'm going daft here. Maybe next month we could try something a bit more Mundane like say a ---- Spock and McCoy dialogue?
