Yes, if it came from Ursa, it would be expected. Parson, not so much. :)
I wouldn't expect me to use that word.

Apart from anything else, I agree with Parson that the word isn't inherently funny. (Now if there was a drink called Copro** - presumably in a country where their language isn't Indo-European - one could imagine a lo-cal version....)

** - Yes, one could use copra, I suppose, but that would be nuts.

Lilmizflashythang – Toys are such fun. As technology improves some of the things the robotic ones get so much more realistic. And fun. But perhaps there becomes a point where reality is taken a little bit too far. Do we really want a dinosaur that can make noises like that? Scarily the answer is probably yes. When do they go on sale?

Thanks for the review Perp.

Should have known that anyone who lives with a dino-nut would want one, I'll put word in with my production line.;)

There dinosaurs of all sorts, Bowler, including: literary/romantic (brontësaurus**), the well-educated ones (diplomasaurus), the ones resistant to heavy blows (hankylosaurus), and the ones that were originally mis-dated to the Silurian age and which policed the others (Diplodocus).

** Note that the brontosaurus is not a real dinosaur, but a mis-indentified apatosaurus.

Not to forget the flying ones, notably (for this site) the pTerrydactyl, with short hands, that writes about ankhleosaurpork and the pTerrysaw.

Well I've come up with something at last.

It is not my original idea, that was a groan-worthy entry that I'll post when voting finishes. It's probably funnier than this entry.

That being said I'm pretty pleased with what I am done, there is a certain vague humour to it. A vague SF-y ness to it, but as a whole I'm really pleased with what I've actually done - and that's really rare.

And it is a response to something that has been mentioned in recent months...

I'm going to blame it all on the food poisoning...

You are right there, Al. Took a geological age. And that most modern of dinosaurs as well...

Grinnel – A quirky and amusing entry that plays of the ‘it was all a dream’ idea, but in some ways it gets pretty metaphysical as well, because it is not the dream of a man that is the case in point but rather those of the dinosaurs. Are we simply the bad dreams of those that came before us? It could be a pretty scary idea, but the language gives it an amusing edge.

Chris – As always a well thought out piece that is exquisitely rendered. I’m going to have to hold my hand up and say that I can’t place the original as Chris put it, but it does not stop me being blown away by the way he makes something like this work, especially with all the names coming together, making sense and rhyming!

r j - This was a straightforward entry, a simple funny scene. And it worked perfectly. The smattering of a couple of pseudo technical turns easily lets us know what is going on, and as always don’t believe what you are told, just because there a couple of little ‘visitors’ does not mean that there is something bigger and nastier out there! (The voice of the presenter is spot on!)

Azzagorn – There is something really wonderful in the idea of a crew of dinosaurs playing practical jokes on one another. That in itself is funny enough, but the inclusion of a period of time just gives it more depth. When surprised people are still going to jump and others are going to find their discomfort hilarious. Even after millions of years.

Crystal – Oh the wonders of children eh? With Perp jr rapidly approaching his fourth birthday and aware of it, every advert on TV contains the present he wants, so this really struck a chord with me Of course that is the scary bit, the end is just priceless, what parent has not grumbled a bit under there tongue with the incessant pestering of a youngster?

It depends how big the predator is, and how small the prey**.

** - Not all dinosaurs are large (particularly the dinnersaurus***).

*** - "Just before it tried to hide!" as the T.Rex joke puts it.

I had a moment there where I genuinely felt disconnected in time and had to remind myself of the date. TJ and Cul have both posted stories, and it's still a long time until the 23rd.

If Ursa posts something in the next few days, it is going to be really spooky ...
