Stephen4444 – there was the feeling of something magical and dreamlike about this story that I really liked. That strange feeling of being a bit real, but not at the same time. There is also something strangely disturbing about someone having a relationship with their grans, even if it is setting in motion events that make him his own grandfather... Mindbendingly clever.

Chris – there are many, many times that I feel as though I just get lost in Chris’ entries and that I am struggling to keep up. In this instance though I could not find anything to say other than pure, unadulterated brilliance. A world collapsing on itself, money vampires, people slowly dying, but there is a little warmth at the end, a humanity that makes the terrible events les terrible, made all the more real by the thought of simple comforts like tea.

BigJ – I think one of the things that stuck with me concerning this one was the fun that it could be read with and perhaps as importantly, the truism that comes with it. It does not matter how great ones deeds, or the victories and goodness you spread, it only takes one mistake and that is what you are remember for, at least by your contempories.

Lilmizflashythang – In many ways a simple story, straightforward, but coming with a strong premise and solid telling. A man returning home from war and finding his family gone, is the start of a mystery, learning where they are by unusual means makes it intriguing, and the threat at the end gives it the thrill... trouble is although we can guess what happens next we want to see it!

ctg – There is the old saying about a bear with a sore head, and this little story catches that to perfection. You can just feel the ‘I hate early mornings’ burning away inside the protagonist. The writing catches it spot on, and guilty thoughts run through many readers. Are we really that bad? Perfectly catches the feeling, but somehow manages to raise a smile.

Question on voting: This is my first time - do we PM our votes, is there a poll or do we simply post our votes openly on one of the two threads?

The poll will go up once the challenge finishes, THD, the same as for the 75-worder.

I've not had time to edit off the extra 47 words in mine. Now reading these, mine seems pedestrian and prosaic. I'm now debating whether to make the effort to edit and post as i feel a bit down on my attempt.

However.... I am going to see Paranormal Activity tonight and that may put me in the mood to write a new piece altogether. :D

I've not been back to the 300 in a while and it's shot off so I've had some nice reading to catch up on. I've got one I'm going to vote for, as I really liked it, and not a clue what to do for my other two votes.

However I did notice one or two, ones I liked and disliked, didn't seem to involve any speculative elements. That's fine by me (a good read is a good read) but is it allowed? I wouldn't want a nice 300 word story barred because it doesn't fit the niche.

Opps! That would be me. I got a jab of inspiration and just wrote it without thinking of any particular genre. If that disqualifies me, I guess so be it.

I really don't even know if I like my post or not either, only that it is unusual.

Thanks Perp. I was agonizing over this entry. Didn't think I'd ever get it right. Once again thanks. I think I learn more from the reviews than from the votes.

Thanks for your review Perp! This is my first time doing this challenge so it's nice to have some feedback. Looking forward to voting!

Oh, I am sorry that my general incomprehensibility has rendered your task of finding something good to say about anybody more difficult;); a number of them were easier to follow before being cut down to size. But it has been noted elsewhere that I am not always the easiest person to understand, and I am happy this one was a bit less obscure.

And thank you very much for all of them, even when, in essence, all you could find positive was "what clever rhymes".

Well I've posted. I usually feel quite uncomfortable with my 300 word entries, as I normally seem to be padding them out, and I'm completely usueless at 150+ word poems. This time I've had to cut it down as I was closer to 400.

Some great entries by the way.

I keep going back to mine and wanting to mess with it. Definitely seeing an advantage in posting on the day of the deadline.

The thing is though that sometimes you get it right first time.

Tbh I find it hardest to decide what to wite about; once I've decided, it's done in an afternoon and posted before I start to mess with it.

But that's me , I guess we all have our own way!

Yup. Idea, write, check for typos, check formatting, post...any more messing and I'd never end up posting, I'd chicken out far too quickly

And here I was thinking the 75 was hard to choose, this 300 will be most challenging!

Yes, I find the 300 word entries much more dificult to judge.

Yeah, 3 votes is much harder...you always end up with four favourites!
