Stephen4444 – there was the feeling of something magical and dreamlike about this story that I really liked. That strange feeling of being a bit real, but not at the same time. There is also something strangely disturbing about someone having a relationship with their grans, even if it is setting in motion events that make him his own grandfather... Mindbendingly clever.
Chris – there are many, many times that I feel as though I just get lost in Chris’ entries and that I am struggling to keep up. In this instance though I could not find anything to say other than pure, unadulterated brilliance. A world collapsing on itself, money vampires, people slowly dying, but there is a little warmth at the end, a humanity that makes the terrible events les terrible, made all the more real by the thought of simple comforts like tea.
BigJ – I think one of the things that stuck with me concerning this one was the fun that it could be read with and perhaps as importantly, the truism that comes with it. It does not matter how great ones deeds, or the victories and goodness you spread, it only takes one mistake and that is what you are remember for, at least by your contempories.
Lilmizflashythang – In many ways a simple story, straightforward, but coming with a strong premise and solid telling. A man returning home from war and finding his family gone, is the start of a mystery, learning where they are by unusual means makes it intriguing, and the threat at the end gives it the thrill... trouble is although we can guess what happens next we want to see it!
ctg – There is the old saying about a bear with a sore head, and this little story catches that to perfection. You can just feel the ‘I hate early mornings’ burning away inside the protagonist. The writing catches it spot on, and guilty thoughts run through many readers. Are we really that bad? Perfectly catches the feeling, but somehow manages to raise a smile.
