Congrats both ...

how about ... dark age new romantic ... victorian chav ... georgian rocker ... norman mod ... jacobean goth ... plantagenet emo :p

Apologies for anyone not in the UK who will most likely get none of those references.

Hmm ... Magic Zebras, in ... uhhh ... Hex? Help!

No? Ok, well, the logistics of collaborating on a theme from opposite sides of the world mean that it will be just a tad late in coming, but you should have it when Hex gets up and gets it approved. I don't *think* anybody will want to shoot us with RAY GUNS for this one. :D

Oh, and thanks, everyone! I think this is the first time we've ever had a tie for the tie, which makes you all very indecisive, and makes us unprecedented -- which should not come as a surprise to anyone. Thanks for all the votes!

Congrats to the co-winners. Now.... how about something like Civil War Fantasy and give us state_siders a history edge.:p:p:D

Congratulations to both of you. The fact that so many of us struggled to decide made this outcome the perfect solution.

And if we're suggesting styles:

Jurassic Rock... could be one for old fossils...

Many more congratulations to you both than I tried to give prematurely, it was hard enough trying to decide which of the two of your stories I wanted to vote for that I'm glad it came out this way.

I didn't get around to voting, and it's probably just as well. I procrastinated because both stories were on my shortlist, and I couldn't split them no matter how hard I tried.

Congratulations to you both.

P.S. If you want a evil suggestion...maybe a story where the hero is also the villain.

P.P.S. Perp said he loved the steam-powered racing chariots in my story. Some background that had to be sacrificed to the unholy gods of the word count explained my protagonist was trying to justify his "small" change in history by reasoning that the Greeks (who invented steam power and then did not go on to invent the moving trea kettle...um, I mean the steam train), and the Romans (who had chariots, along with many other ancient civilisations) could always have combined these two ideas and really created steam-powered racing chariots all by themselves without any help from a disgruntled ex-student with a time machine...

Sorry. Hex was out last night (!). We have agreed a truly marvellous challenge, and I'm sure you'll all love us for it (muhahahaha!). We're waiting for moderator approval and then all will be clear.

*exits, cackling evilly*

Luiglin. Springs asked for a theme we all can understand. I don't know how many of us could understand what any of those things are.

Ok for our friends across the pond (and excuse me if any of these are wildly wrong)

Hip hop Pilgrim Fathers ... Country and western revolution ... rock n roll civil war ... Wild west beatnik :p

Congrats to Hex and TDZ on your historic achievement! And it couldn't happen to two nicer people too.

(oh no, what are they going to do to us?)

Congratulations to both winners!

*awaits new challenge with trepidation*

Coincidence perhaps, but Perp jr. and I were standing on the very steps the Pilgrim Fathers left from...

(Well actually they're not despite the name and the placard, but we let the tourists believe that)
