Lucky Lola must have posted while I was typing or I would have thanked her for the mention as well, so thanks Lola!

Had to sit this one out as far as writing (a general ambivalence towards Christmas and a specific dislike of vampires), but that won't stop me from voting!

Shortlist:

Springs, Count Nicolas' Christmas Trail - You ought to be locked up in a punitentiary! Huh? Huh? [crickets]
Stormcrow, The Vampires of the Messines Ridge - The Christmas Truce has always been a fascinating little story to me. I'm always surprised when someone hasn't heard of it.
Moonbat, The True Christmas Vampire - This, right here, is not only a wonderful take on the theme, but also a perfect summation of rampant, institutionalized greed.

Vote goes to Moonbat.

Thank you Lucky_Lola and stormcrow for the mentions. Thank you very much chris, David, Juliana, Parson, and (in case I didn't thank you before) TacticalLoco, for the votes.

_______

And my own short and shorter lists:

ratsy
Hex
Abernovo
Juliana
Perpetual Man
The Spurring Platty
stormcrow
Parson
Moonbat
HareBrain
Culhwch

It was a hard decision between Parson and HareBrain, but in the end I voted for HareBrain.

I finally got my vote in, but it's after 1:00 am and I'll have to post my lists tomorrow. Err ... today. Later.

Thank you for the listing, Teresa.

Well, I said it would be refreshing to vote, when I hadn't entered, but... there are so many brilliant stories!! The inventiveness was marvellous, and three votes would have been a nice festive gift...

So: Shortlist, Finalists (any of these could have won!) and *winner.

Hex
Abernovo
Stormcrow
Juliana
Nixie
Perpetual Man
The Spurring Platty
Phyrbrat
Alchemist
Kylara
*Reiver 33

Thanks for the mention, Boneman.

As an aside, this month's photo challenge (theme: History) is now open for voting, and you have an enthralling and diverse 14 entrants to choose from.

Hope all are having a festive good time.

Top three for me

Juliana - I hate office parties
The Spurring Platty - great last line
Perpetual Man - letters to Santa should be illegal

My vote went to The Judge, you've got to have a Panto at Christmas

Thank you very much for the mentions, Stormcrow, Phyrebrat, Teresa and Boneman.

This is exciting. Go the brandyrooks!

Ooh, TE and Reiver take an early lead.

I can't imagine what a collab between THOSE two would land us. :D No, they're not too bad.

Now, getting a pair together like Ursa and Hoopy or something....

Voted for Kylara in the end, it was just too cute and adorable to pass up. A dragon with a tummy ache. Hehe.

And thanks for the two mentions. It's 3 a.m. here so I won't get both proper shout outs out, but I do remember that springs was one, thanks very much. Sorry I can't think past that at this point, heh...

Phyrebrat - Thank You so much for your vote: I'm delighted as I was quite pleased with what I'd written this month!:D

And Thanks for the shortlistings to EricWard, TeresaE, & Boneman.:)

Steady your nerves now - we could be in for an exciting ride (brandyrooks circling - eagerly awaiting directions)!

I managed a short list, but have yet to decide on a vote (I know, I need to hurry!)

in posting order (from my notes which I scribbled down during my insomniac read through last night, apologies to anyone whose name I've misspelled):
Ratsy- rhyming works well, vivid scene painting.
Abernovo- I cringed ;) elf-blood *giggle*
Stormcrow- only explanation for breaking that truce, really.
Perpetual Man- SPELLING! it matters. OMG I want to laugh from my hiding place every time I read it. you have no idea how guilty I am.
Teresa Edgerton- Angels weeping for those they cant save and must destroy to save others. Perfect!
Mosaix- rahahahaha best "you're doing it wrong" outcome ever!
Silvermoon- *evil laugh* yes!
Paranoid Marvin- Fantastic! what a lively scene! what lyrical phrasing! I want an invitation...

First of all thank you Thersea and Hopewrites for the shortlistings.

I had a hard time choosing so I will just list my top three

Parson - beautifully done.
Theresa - angels hunting vampires is a great idea and well executed
Perpetual Man - a little vamp jr. writing to satan at christmas is priceless

Perp it was just good enough to beat out my other favorites so you get my vote this month.
