Perp's New Year Reading Project

Cool! I hope Lulu didn't screw up the printing - on the first Barbarians' Key I ordered, they'd chopped the apostrophe off. And I really hope you do enjoy them. Ta very much.

I'll state the following here and in the other thread, just to make sure it is out there:

The reviews are going to stop appearing in the main forum section of the Chrons and should, all being well start appearing on the front page.

I will however be posting here what book is up next, and I will provide links to the reviews as they become available.

I hope that makes sense.

Any comments on the reviews may be made there or in the reviews thread.

Having just seen mention of Ian Sales 'Adrift on the Sea of Rains' in SFX and realising that I have nothing by him on the list, it has now been purchased and added.

The updated list as it stands at the moment, with those read and reviewed removed and those still waiting, or added remaining:

Alchemist of Souls - Anne Lyle

Undercurrents - Thomas M Grimes

Urbis Morpheos - Stephen Palmer

The Hidden Stars - Madeleine Howard (Teresa Edgerton)

Simon and the Wardrobe of Destiny - Ellis Jackson

The Blade Itself - Joe Abercrombie

Dragon's Tongue - Laura J Underwood

Imperial Assassin - Mark Robson

City of Masks - Mary Hoffman Currently reading

The Noise Within - Ian Whates

The Empress Graves - E J Tett

Fade to Black - Frances Knight

Adrift on the Sea of Rains - Ian Sales

If there is any writer not on the list who has a published/self published book and would like it added, let me know.

Could you add Journey to Altmortis, by Thaddeus White?

Could you add Journey to Altmortis, by Thaddeus White?

I was going to Thaddeus, but figured I've already read Bane of Souls (and enjoyed it) so Journey will have to slide into my regular reading pile - but I will read it honest!

And I've just bought it to make sure I do - love the cover incidentally.

Argh! Sorry. If I'd paid more attention I should've seen the 'New Year' bit. Ahem.

I shall go flail myself with a cat o'nine tails at once.

[Cheers for the cover comments. I'm very lucky my artist, Yoong, was so patient because my initial description of it is the sort of thing that would just about fit in a 120' wall painting].

It really is a cover to be proud of, for anyone wondering I'll post a copy here, hope you don't mind Thaddeus!

Now isn't that a cover worth buying a book for

Oh, very well the, if you insist on giving me some promotion...

Being serious, Yoong's very nice to work with and I think she's open to working for covers for more authors. Those interested can find contact details on her DA page here: Leeyoong on deviantART

[I hope you don't mind this mini-hijack, but she did mention to me a little while ago she was open to new clients and given the cover seems to have gone down well I thought it legitimate to raise it].

I don't see why not, and it is not really a hijack, we're talking about books written by Chrons authors of which you are one.

Now if it was the reviews thread...;)
