Wherefore Dorne?

I had a thought, a dream actually (you know your obsessed when  ) that I don't think anyone has presented yet.

Arienne and Aegon! Would bring us back to the beginning in a way, before Robert's Rebellion. Targ and Martell. Rheagar would have been King with his Martell Queen. Seems very possible, Dany is still, after all, on the wrong continent. Arienne is much closer with hopes of proving herself. She was promised to Viserys, to go to Aegon now is not much of a stretch. Someone has to sit the Iron Throne. I think Jon and Dany have more important things to do!
I get the feeling you're right about that, and you've just given me something new to consider.

They say that Dany is Aegon the Conqueror come again. We know that Jon is needed for the battle forthcoming in the North. What if Dany and her Unsullied & Freedmen Army unite Essos and join with Westeros? Or if Dany ends up ruling Essos and Aegon + Arianne rule Westeros, with Dany flying back and forth on Drogan to lend support to Jon at the Wall?

We may end up with Jon as King in the North, Dany as Queen of Essos and Aegon as King of Westeros, which if we assume (as most of us do) that R+L=J, then we'd have a new Targ dynasty.

Bleh, I'm hoping that Aegon dies quickly.

I want to see the characters that I've grown to love since the beginning grow to absolute power and fame before saving the day and living happily ever after. This Aegon rules this, Jon rules that, and Daenerys rules somewhere else thing just doesn't spark much interest for me.

Dany as Queen leaves Westeros in much the same predicament as it is now... without an heir. We know she cannot have more children... she was and is cursed.
We'll need a fertile Queen as a head of the dragon... and there are truly only two or three actually viable candidates. Sansa. Margaery. And Arianne... and considering of the three only one has any Dragon blood... Arianne is likely the best choice. She may not be immune to dragon-fire... but she strenthens the bloodline rather than further diluting it. She's also smokin' hot according to all sources... what male head of the dragon could turn her down.

Many of us believe that Dany's last chapter in ADWD means the curse has been lifted from her womb, so you can't count her out yet.

Where does that leave Tyrion? Does he become Hand of the Queen for Dany? I am also wondering what is going to become of Edric Storm and Gendry. Both of them have claim to the Baratheon name, although Gendry is older. We have already seen that a king can remove the title of "*******" from a person.

Perhaps we will see Gendry and Edric Baratheon by the time this thing is over.

Personally I'm hoping for a reunion between Gendry and Arya, but I don't want to stray this thread off topic any more than we already have. :)

It doesn't matter that Gendry is older since Edric is acknowledged as Robert's ******* due to the fact that his mother is of higher birth. Edric would have a better claim on the Baratheon name.

Robert has sixteen bastards. I'm sure there's more competition in there somewhere. :D

I am in agreement with jule over devilsgrin as far as Dany's fertility goes, i think that curse has been lifted, the conditions fulfilled.

Yes Tywin, I understand your feelings about the "late comers" but the more I consider it the more I feel they will play a large part. As devilsgrin points out Arienne strengthens the dragon blood, something desperately needed.

Fire and Ice have to join! Jon alone, if R+L=J proves true, fulfills that. I however still think it means Jon and Dany. 2 of the 3 heads of the dragon. The Others have to be defeated, thus the Iron Throne has to be low on Jon's list of priorities.

If Aegon is truly Aegon, and against my wishes I think he probably is, a joining of Aegon and Arianne once again joins Dorne to the Targs without bloodshed. Putting the Cersei in deep s**t once again! A bonus!

Tywin, I like the feminocracy idea. Peeves had a good addition with the potential of Edmure's child.

Dany is shown to require better advisers, since she is only 16, I think (enter Tyrion, stage left). She doesn't lack for bravery or charisma, or desire to do the right thing.

Don't think Martin will actual go all the way with it, but it is fun reading a series in which there are do many strong female contenders. How about Melisandre as the new "High Septon" (after having a huge religious coup with the fire God winning out). Or Lady Olenna being the new Hand--after creating a military position to split the task.:)

While Dorne has the Sand culture, the Tyrell's seem to have the job of representing High Romance. No wonder they don't get along. I wonder how the Tyrell's will react to the Targs and how they will cope with the Ironborn.
