Anyone planning on going to Eastercon 2013 (EightSquaredCon) on 28th March - 1st April 2013 in Bradford?
http://www.eightsquaredcon.org/

Am thinking I will need to go, as want to redevelop my contacts on the publishing side of the industry.

Question is, if I do go, will there likely to be anyone familiar from chrons present? :)

I've never been to a book conference yet, and I'd like to go but... I'll have just been away for the three weeks prior to it (two work and one play) which causes a bit of a problem. So I shall have to think on it.

Will be there from the Friday afternoon till Monday afternoon. I try not to miss Eastercon and this year money is not so tight as previous years.

Money's actually getting tight here, but I really want to chat with John Jarrold about a few things, not least because I'm beginning to feel relatively close to finishing my WIP. I also want to meet people in the publishing industry to get an idea of how they are finding things, not least with the continuing financial crisis, but also with the book revolution. And which publishers are currently looking at which markets the most, etc.

There'll probably be a few programme items on those very subjects :)

Oh, no doubt the panels have value - but it's the personal chats over a beer that are priceless. :)

Speaking of which, are the organisers late with the programme?

I don't know when they plan to publish it. I suspect they're still gathering suggestions. I know I've not been contacted about appearing on any panels yet.

I will be there.
The writing workshop is not running this year, back next year hopefully.

I've tried booking online but it doesn't give me the option of booking one day, wouldn't be able to make the whole weekend as I can't get the Saturday of work, thought I might have been able to go on the Sunday or Monday.

Am booked in to stay at the Campanile - just down the road. Still some accommodation left there - seems to make better sense than staying at a hotel in the middle of Bradford instead!

I'm in the Campanile

I hope it's not too far - I always end up going to bed about 4am at cons. Maybe not best plan toddling around Bradford getting lost at that time!

We (the writers' group) were pretty disappointed too - I always love doing the workshop.

ETA: Looking at the email, it seems it's one and a half miles away. Not too bad, except part of it is unlit....

I believe they are running a shuttle bus between the hotels every half hour as they did last time it was in Bradford. Not sure what the time of the last bus is. I believe a taxi is only a couple of £s and someone is bound to be going your way if you are leaving late.

Taxis were dead cheap 2 years ago.
I haven't heard back about my hotel choice yet.
