Gahhh, Lenny, I loved your explanation The Defiant was my favourite ship in any of the ST franchises; no wonder your story was such a good one!
For my efforts... well, the name of the journal-writer that is found on my trash island was an anagram of a famous old horror writer, and the ship was named after Billie (no, not Piper !) - who first sang the dark, heartbreaking Strange Fruit song which tells of lynched 'black bodies, swinging in the southern breeze'.
One day I'll writer something a little nicer, I'm sure.
Thanks Juliana. As I've stated on a post in the critiques area humour is quite subjective. Unfortunately I sometimes can't help myself but roll out the puns. My failing is often not knowing when to stop.
