Discussion -- 300 Word Challenge #9

My manners have deserted me. Big thanks to ForeverStarGirl, ratsy, springs and Juliana for the votes, and thanks to those who mentioned mine also.

The last day for voting. I wonder how a certain person's nerves are holding out?

A very certain person?

Oh, it's a shoo-in. Two whole votes difference, and only six more we're expecting (hoping) to vote? (unless, of course, a few others, like Cul, or allmywires or Kylara, who didn't manage to submit, still decide to fulfil their civic duty and vote anyway, or some of the total outsiders join in…

Easy peasy.

(Trots off to 'who's on line' expecting to find one light firmly ensconced in the poll)

Finally, I've voted. I had a hard time choosing between the stories on my short list and the final three, but here they are:

Glen
The Spurring Platty
EloiseA
Hex
Juliana
johnnyjet
The Judge

I've cast my vote. All very good stories.

*Springs - Liberation
Juliana - The Source
*Reiver33 - The Man Who fell To Urth
Hex - The Mapmakers
Teresa Edgerton - Ill-Met In Azimeth
*TheDustyZebra - And sometimes we have, and it is. (or, Cartographers Aren't Always Lazy)

As ever, I've left it to the last minute (well, last hours...)

A longer than usual short-list, and several stories only just missed out on being among them:

BigJ -- Shipwrecked
EloiseA -- Mapless on the High Seas
Heather Hawke -- Edged with Flame
Hex -- The Mapmakers
Juliana -- The Source
Luiglin -- Fun in the Sun
reiver33 -- The Man who fell to Urth
stormcrow -- Awaiting a Hero's Return
Teresa -- Ill-Met in Azimeth
TDZ -- And Sometimes We Have

And after a good deal of cogitation and walking up and down, and changing my mind every few minutes, I've voted for Juliana, for her many-windowed tower which I loved, BigJ, for a clever and unusual take, and stormcrow, for the pathos and hope of his tale.

Well done everyone, whether I've named you or not. As ever we were choc-a-block with excellent stories.

Thank you for the mentions and shortlistings, good people (springs, DEO, ratsy, johnnyjet, TDZ, Aber (and thanks for the lovely words, Aber!) stormcrow and marvin -- I think that's everyone, but apologies if I'm missed any).

The usual megathanks to those who've voted for me, who get a specially engraved virtual map, bloodstains included at no extra charge -- Anne, Boneman, Brev, Glisterspeck, Juliana, Phyrebrat and Teresa. (And I'm greatly honoured to be included in one of your all-time faves, Anne. Thank you, indeed.)

And stormcrow, we ought to start a Noggin the Nog club!

A big Thank You to The Judge for your vote!:D Glad you liked it.

(A club? I like that idea!)

Good luck to all - the Brandyrooks are eyeing the sky warilly tonight - it's very blustery here! I predict problems with direction due to headwinds
- once again!

Another vote! Thanks Teresa! Very much appreciated.

(Ah, I see the pattern. You voted for all J names. Great company to be in: Juliana and the Judge.)

Eeeeeeeee...puts down stress ball, small bottle of pink pills and turns off looped cd of whale music.... Thank you very much for all the votes (and Glitch and TSP for the two I noticed from behind my hands and Ursa for the mention.) And it just occurred to me, I don't have to choose the theme/genre. Yay! :)

Yay! Congratulations, springs!!! A well-deserved win. :)

Thanks for the mention, Ursa.

You rock, springs!

Thrilled by the kind mentions from Teresa and the Judge -- thank you very much.
